Thread: Quick agx/hyperco question

For those of you who have this combo and used the 1/2" heater hose trick for the bottom mount - did you also do this on the top? I'm having a B%$@ of a time getting the top ones on more than 5 inches. The bottoms were hard enough, the tops are just impossible. How did you end up solving the top problem (if there is one, or is metal on metal fine at the top?)

Hopefully someone else will have an answer for you but there shouldn't be metal on metal anywhere. OEM comes with a rubber isolator for the top and bottom of the spring. At the very least those should be in place.

yah I've seen that photo - the top rubber islolaters are bunk on mine now - thinking of just getting 5/8" hose for the tops and slipping them on instead - sure not a tight fit but at least they go on!

Thanks 4dr - it seems though he still has the top rubber portions on there, and I dont - looks like the rubber hose is my only recourse

Yup. They're bagged up ready to go.

I have 3 more tops that are usable but have holes in them and 8 bottoms. 4 new 4 usable but a bit crusty.

Cut a slit on one side of the tube down most of the length of hose. Leave about 3 inches uncut. Those 3 inches should be on the very end of the spring (were it would be subject the the most movement and such) while you slide the rest over the spring. Use a few raps of electrical tape at even intervals along the cut section to hold the hose on the spring. I hope that makes sense.
