Its certainly not rust, the springs arent that old I dont think there is any rust on them at all they are maybe 3-4 years old, I bought them on one of the last group buys for them.

Very odd. In PA I don't hear of or see many springs(even oem on any range of vehicle) snapping, however it does happen. The Hypercos are obviously an extremely high quality spring so I'd lay this down to straight up rare defect. I'd put my money on them definitely taking care of you, keep us updated!

mabe you had a bad strut bearing or installed incorrectly. and were steering through springs and snapped it. this happened to my 93 sentra E i was steering, heard clunking on the L/F side. took the strut apart and the bearing was ceased, looks like i was steering through the spring causing it to sretch around luckily i didnt break the spring.

Ok here are some pics of the spring, I stand corrected there is some surface rust but nothing that could cause a clean snap like this:

Curious to see better pictures of the fracture surfaces. Too blurry/grainy to really see anything.

That would be cool.

Based on shape, I'd put money on raw stock impurities.

No necking noticeable looks like a brittle fracture. My bet is on impurities as well
