SS Braided Lines....destroyable...?
I thought these things were like the creme de la crem of lines....i changed a rear caliper this weekend because my ebrake didnt work with ****..and it still doesnt..i think it has something to do with the adjuster? more on that...anyway

at work today...i get in my car...and i stepped on my break pedal..and it went half way normal..then pwoosh to the ground....i know the feeling...so after a fool practice push's i realized it was broken...checkd it..and its a clear hole in the SS Braided line..what gives? we bled the rear caliper after we changed it..there was no clear kink in the line..wth?

questions are...

what could cause this?

am i good with just replacing it with a oem rubber one and not a SS one?

and did i **** up by not bleeding all 4 brakes and just that one?

oh yea..why my ebrake dont work?

I don't know what would cause a hole in a SS line besides something hitting it or mistreatment, but what brand/kind of SS lines were you using?

I would check to make sure it wasn't rubbing on something like we talked about earlier. Even if it just started to rub through it could cause the house to rupture.

The ss lines are just regular rubber hoses covered in a ss braid that reduces expansion when the pedal is pushed, sometimes they are covered in a plastic coating to keep dirt out,
.
I believe uncoated is cheap ebay junk or other sources, clear coated is goodridge, and black coated is technafit, but someone correct me if I'm wrong
.
Sometimes dirt can get in the ss braid and work a hole in the rubber line underneath causing it to blow out like yours

The ones I have are from GregV they are coated but the coating cracked after like a year or two. One trick is to use wiring loom and electrical tape to cover them
