wheel bearing?
Just wondering how to identify a bad wheel bearing. As of now, I have some humming, anything else I should notice?

you can jack the car up and see if the wheel wobbles around. Also, the grease will smell burnt and nasty. A lot of drag and if its hard to turn may be another sign.

when you jack it up grab the wheel a 12 and 6 and see if there is any play then do the same at 3 and 9 o clock

When you tun the noise should quiet a bit. And do as suggested above.

When my wheel bearings went bad, there wasn't any wobbling when moving the wheel with the car jacked up...I have heard others say the same. I'm not sure why they didn't, that is a classic sign they are going bad.
Mine developed a high pitched squeal when driving, after starting out as a humming noise, that was the tell-tale sign for me.

If you want to be on the safe side, I would say replace them if you have over 150k miles on the car-especially if you have lowered the car or drive hard.
