H&R Springs & KYB GR2 question!! HELP!
Hey guys, I have a small question. My car is on H&R Springs with KYB GR-2 rears and Monroe stock shock replacements in the front (like the GR-2's).

Anyway the ride is bouncier than a fake breasted woman, its not that its bouncy its that of course with the 1.8" drop there is not enough shock travel and the shock is not stiff enough to hold so it bottoms out on bumps, especially in the ****ty NYC roads.

So my question is, should I get AGX's? Would it be worth it, the car looks great, but the ride sucks majorly. The reason why I got them was because I was moving to NYC, I needed shocks as the car was on 1993 stock shocks and springs and the springs had blocks to 'lower' the car, the springs was so old and compressed that it was loose in the shock when I would hit a pothole the car would jump, but I barely did because that was back in FL where the roads are smooth as a sailing ship in the caribbean lol, anyway I got a deal on the GR2's with the Springs from a member (almost new springs) but the front were blown, my bro works at Bennett auto and he hooked me up with the front shocks cheap. It was to resolve the problem of the drive to NY not to enchance the vehicles handling abilities.

Thanks for reading all this blabber. Please advice, Thanks!

you're just lying right there.. these roads are death.

yes, agx's will help it from bottoming out on the smaller things, due to more dampening, however 1.8" drop is a good bit, and you'll probably run out of strut travel even with the agx's. i'd either re-do the setup entirely, or run agx's with a more linear bumpstop.

I dont know about Tallahassee but Pembroke Pines and the Turnpike and everywhere in between (Miami etc...) was not bad compared to NEW YORK CITY, trust me dude, its pretty bad up here. I dont know how people run low pros here, my stock NX wheels and tires hit bumps that feel like im bending the damn rim!! I was also spoiled in FL with my three P11's I owned on TEIN N/A Coilovers which felt like driving an M3 hehe...and of course the M35 Sport.

Damn maybe I should just get Tein's and call it a day.... Too much $$

I think you should get the shortened konis. Your ride quality will improve drastically. But at that point you might as well get some hyperco, or RMs as well.

Agreed. Even with AGX's increased damping, it will not be happy with 1.2" of travel. It might be a little better than what you have now, but definitely wont be worth the cost of the new set.

My RM/AGX combo did nicely the last time i was in the city.

why is it that everyone who lives in an area that has hellacious roads always have the crappiest suspensions?

honestly. i would suggest getting 4 new gr-2's and find some stock springs. if you can afford it get AGX's and stock springs.....save up for hyperco's or roadmagnets.

I would go with CSK's if you plan on keeping those H&R's.

Otherwise, I'd start saving up, and find someone letting go stock springs for cheap, until you have the funds to buy another setup.

My shocks are not blown, stock springs at the time were not easy to come by I only had a couple of days. I actually like the look of the car, just the ride sucks. I think im going to save up and in the future get some Tein's again like I had on my P11, almost 5 years going strong and I never had a problem with them.

I dont think id want to go back to stock springs, not worth the hassle or dealing with 14 yr old springs

As long as the springs from the previous owner weren't cut, or on some ****ty struts, they technically shouldn't be any weaker than they were before.

Sure it looks high as hell, and you're driving around a 4x4, but if you're worried about comfort, that's the only way to go, without forking over some cash.

I don't know what your finances are like, but if you can afford to, just go ahead and buy what you need now, or put some stock springs on until you can easily afford to put the correct suspension components on your ride

Yeah it makes sense, I thought they would have worn out by now or something (saggyish), it is a long time you know but you could be right.

Im not going to go through the trouble. If the AGX's dont work then ill just wait to save up for the Tein's. Ive been taking mods off the car since it left Florida, but once I get my finances right and start making the serious cash flow then I will spend the money. I just got factory new mats for cheap hehe I know you were looking for some.

Tein will probably be the way ill go in the future. Id rather spend money on engine mods first anyway.
