Actually, there was an article about this on se-r.net that the author actually suggested that you could cut 1/4 of a coil off your stock springs, to lower your CG when racing in stock class, and still be within factory ride height specs.

EDIT: So a bit of false info there but basically the same result:

You can use the poor boy method to get up to 2 degrees of negative camber. Do it on both the front and rear wheels so it won’t be too obvious. Suspension Techniques can re-heat treat your stock springs for a lower ride height. Look at your stock springs before you send them and take note of the color code marks and write them down. Then send your springs off to Suspension Tech. Don’t lower the car more than 1.5 inches with the stock spring rate. When you get them back paint the spring the proper shade of semi-gloss and re-apply the color code marks using model paint or paint pens. Then laugh at the tech inspectors and kick some Neon butt. You might not be able to get away with this stuff at the Runoffs in Kansas but for nationals and local races you should have no problem snowing the techs. "Honest sir the car came with these" hahahaha!

So far, everyone that i know of with MR's have no complaints. This thread should keep active. Once I install mine, I'll be updating this thread. pro's and con's will benefit anyone else on this forum that wants to get a coilover setup. Who know's... They might be a great coilover or they will probably fail. Us as a community/enthusiasts always try new things. So MR's are new to the forum. We will test and tune like anything else. My .02.

you get what you pay for. if you guys want an se-r that rides like a caddy, invest in some advance design/ground control custom coilovers with digressive valving.

that wont do it though. go cage and properly reinforce everything so the suspension is doing the job it's supposed to do and the chassis isn't absorbing the bumps. unfortunately, that will cost around $7500 ask me how i know.

I dont have any ser experience with the megans, but on a friends 1st gen miata they are damn good and hold their own plenty well while auto crossing, they also dont ride very bad at least for his particular application. The same friend has a mirage with ksports and those from both of our opinions on that car are too soft in the rear, these also ride pretty good.

I have 3 friends who mostly do drifting events with their 240sx's 2 own s13's and 1 owns an s14, they all had high dollar set ups but switched to megans. They all absolutely love them for cornering/drifting. I would agree on the road for their application they ride harsh, but all three have their cars slammed, and also have all of the other adjustable toe links, camber arms and tension rods which dont exactly help soak up any bumps not having any give, they all also have fully welded and boxed in roll cages.

I know someone metioned the apexi coilovers being the same, which is not the case, they have a much larger rod/piston set up and are revers mounted with the adjustments on the very bottom of the shock cylinder. They are also quite a bit more expesive. One of the s13 guys had these and switched to the megans. The other s13 had jic magic coilovers and the s14 had silkroad coilovers, they are all highly sought after expensive set ups and they all switched to meagns and said to me personally that they wont go back. They have all had them for over a year now with no problems that i have heard about, and i talk to them regularly.

I have ksports on my nx but havent had a chance to drive on them yet. I will be comparing them to my gc/agx set up i had before them for years which was a pretty good set up.

I personally think for the s13 at least i wouldnt recommend daily driving them if you cant stand a harsh ride. If its going to be a race only vehicle or a weekend warrior they are a decent and cheap suspension, i wouldnt say by any means they are the best out there, but you get what you pay for. As with just about everything out there there is always something better to be had if you have the money

insane imports, you should suggest my welded suspension idea to those guys. It will give them the ultimate in predictability and anti-roll. It will give them even more of what they are after. Once they do it, I bet they'd say they'll never go back to Megan's.

This is not a joke. You will be doing them a favor. I don't see why not.

I have the Ksports , and I want a higher quality suspension someday soon , but I undecided still , Progress , or Tein on somthing custom , we will see , but I think the Ksports are fine for those on a budget ....or intill I can upgrade

the reason why megans/ksports are good on a driftmobile is because the springs are uber stiff.

I'd like to see thos hold up to the abuse I've put on my Tein SS setup over the years. (without rebuilding)
