I'm after firm, controlled, stable, forgiving, supple, planted and leech like grip. Perhaps "BMW-esque" describes it? Comfortable on the worst roads during daily driving. More than capable of driving to a road course, bombing it and wringing out the vehicle, and then driving home.
you'll love the CSK's with the Hypercoils. I had them on my 93 SE-R while I owned my E36 M3. But I didn't have the 3-pt FSTB, i did however have rear progress sway and active tuning RSTB.. it wasn't quite M3-esque, but it was still DAMN fun in it's own way.. a lot more chassis stiffening and better tires might have made a bigger difference... I suggest as many structural enhancements as you can think of... the chassis is night and day stiffer in the M3 and even more so in the G35 I had, but it still didn't handle as well as the M3... anyway.. I still loved driving my B13 after driving the M3, for different reasons.. it was wierd, the love affair with those two girls....

QFT means what?? I'm old..

my point is that an old car CAN handle and ride well, and that there is no sense in making excuses because it's old, as our good friend SE-Rican was suggesting. I think we're 20/20 here Vex630, but I don't know for sure.. LoL

I also agree on the daily driver thing. My car has not been daily driven for over 6 years now. It is a toy that spends most of its time in a garage.
yeah, that's a totally different animal you got there, with it being a weekend toy or whatever... you bougt a G35 didn't you? or was it an M35?

I hear that.

rails please, with a little bit of power on the side.. I like the sense of control (control freak) I have with a car that feels like it's on rails..

I think I have that bolded line covered thoroughly. I'd go so far as to say that right now, I have thee stiffest B13 on this (or the other) forum sans interior bracing or a cage.

10) Stephens Fender Braces: fender braces - SR20 Forum
11) Foamseal the A-B-C pillars, front rails, side rails. Which is covered in another thread here: http://www.sr20-forum.com/suspension/11917-foam-filling-chassis.html.
12) IKEA Brace welded in

Perhaps someone in Japan has me beat by seam welding the chassis, etc...?

And I am older than you. This forum helps me keep up with "youngster lingo" quite well.

Correct. It boils down to how good you want it, and how much you have budgeted.

That is one very good question.

Here's another couple good questions.

How many of you guys stating a good review on Megans actually have tested them on B13's? Taken them to a track with an expert/professional driver and all the test equipment necessary? Run the dampers through a shock-dyno to see how they compare to known good dampers (like Koni/Bilstien)? Had them on your vehicle for a long-term test of more than a year? Beat them to sh*t on a road course several dozen times?

Those are rhetorical questions.

My gut instinct is to flame the Megans, but Prodrifter is the kind of guy that does a lot of trackdays, so I trust that his decision is based on sound (and experienced) judgement.

I don't think he's merely 'cheaping out.' I'm sure he knows what he is doing.

oh yeah, I remember now.. I thought he was saying "Quit F*cking Talking" or something LoL, as if he didn't agree with me...LoL paranoid? me? naaah....

dude your car isn't even a B13 anymore! holy crap.. i mean it is, but it's so far beyond...wow.. I have heard people talking about you doing that, but I never ran across the post..

My girl friend move to Dallas (still a ways from Houston) but I have an uncle, an old Marine pal and you to come see in Houston... one of these weekends man.. one of these weekends.... I gotta see/hear your car for myself..

we could ask you the same thing about your set up, how many track events has your car seen. cuz you might have the stiffest car on this forum and im sure the ikea brace puts you over the top.

it sucked that my comments where taken down when what i really wanted to say is.... china/taiwan parts can be good quality, well good enough quality for you to put a SSAC header on your car right? talk about an above ground pool.

but dont mind me, im just being sarcastic and defensive so dont take my comments to heart Shawn B.

While no one over in CA is reporting the strut falling issue, it didn't take long reading in the thread posted above until it was mentioned.

Reading that didn't surprise me one bit. That is a B14 chassis by the way.

My vehicle has seen one (1) track event.

However, the AGX/Hyperco combo is also on Chriscars B13 (who tracks the car regularly and can drive like a motherf*cker), it was on Big B's (highly successful) auto-cross vehicle. My current suspension (Hyperco/AGX) was also tested thoroughly by Dave Coleman and Mike Kojima, on a gawd-damned track, with the proper test equipment and Mike at the wheel, in an SCC feature article. Is that enough testing for you?

You guys keep knocking the IKEA brace. LOL. Big deal. It is one (1) of five (5) bolted/welded-on top-quality braces on my vehicle. Not to mention the foaming. A couple thousand dollars worth of chassis-bracing, before I even get to my suspension parts themselves.

Of course they can be good quality, they could also suck. I never stated anything different.

The DE is going away. There was no "ASP" header at the time. It was Hotshot (overpriced crap-quality) or the SSAC. It is that simple.

Therealnighthog has already pointed out that there is a HUGE difference between an IKEA brace or even a header and a complex, multi-moving-parts, intricate sub-system of your vehicle. Like your suspension. Comparing them is NOT comparing "apples to apples."

What I find hysterical is that all you guys keep jumping my sh*t. WTF?!?

Let me make this perfectly clear.....

I HAVE NOT SAID A WORD, BAD OR GOOD, ABOUT THE MEGANS.

NOT ONE (1) DAMN THING.

Go back and check for yourself.

You defensive-as-f*ck-Megan-lovers accuse me of attacking, when I am merely asking questions. You accuse me of being "smugly superior" and flaunting my knowledge, when I am the most humble and dead-honest motherf*cker on this forum about my knowledge levels. I have done NOTHING but contribute information to this thread (and the last one, that spawned this one) in the way of links.

We got sideways in the last thread over CENSORSHIP and the THREAD TOPIC, not anything to do with the coilovers in question.

I want expert opinions and documented facts about the Megan coilovers. So I can put the damn things into the Suspension Thread with some clue and reality-based information. For the benefit of the entire forum(s).

How many times have I said this....I am a student of our suspensions. A f*cking reporter. I am NOT an expert, never have been, never-ever (EVER) claimed to be one. However, I search for true expertise and facts.

You gentlemen that have the Megans on your vehicles are doing so on faith alone. That ain't enough. Not for me, or other folks considering buying them who want firm, first hand, no-bullsh*t, no "seat of the pants", documented, impartial testing by experts.

Megan Racing Coilover - SR20 Forum

.................................

I feel like the proverbial "absent-minded professor" or more specifically "absent-minded student".

I'll have to go re-read that thread. The one I started. LOL.

And yes, I re-read the Suspension Thread as well when I am unsure about something. Why? Because it is NOT my information, and I am NOT the expert. It is the "collective knowledge" of the forum and forum experts all assembled in one (1) easy to read (81-pages printed out, NOT counting responses) thread. Compiled by a non-expert who happens to write and research pretty well (giving myself credit where credit is due).

Further, sometimes I miss threads (apparently even ones I started, doh!) when I am updating The Suspension Thread. I fully intended to include that thread you linked (that I started) last time I did updates. Now I will include two (2) threads, this one and that one, plus a link to the Megan website, and the BC Racing (the actual manufacturer according to Prodrifter) website. And any other information, facts and (hopefully expert) opinions I can find, or someone can point me at.

Why you Megan-guys are sooooo damn defensive, and taking continual personal shots at me, the motherf*cking "roving reporter", I have no gawd-damned idea. You wanna keep on arguing and making personal attacks (IKEA brace etc...)? Most folks are well aware that I can always ratchet-up the heat to any intensity, and I love conflict of any sort. However, currently your personal jabs towards me or my Classic are entirely misguided. ....
