Thread: SEL big brake upgrade suggestions

I want your suggestions. Until this summer, I always felt like my brakes were up to the task, well this year they are not. I have been using carbon metallic pads with NX fronts, but I need something bigger. So I am wanting your suggestions for a road race worthy setup. And since there are few places I can buy them, hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

I am looking at a kit that will provide stopping power front and rear, but will clear without use of dubs. I would imagine there are a lot of different stock setups that a lot of people have used, including the maxima rears. I just need a kickstart in the right direction so I can have as few hiccups as possible when I do this. It would suck to spend thousands on a brake setup only to have to spend another thousand on wheels that will fit. I'd like to do this in steps to have this ready for the motorsports park next season.

What are your suggestions for a SEL with 400whp?

Front-Fastbrakes 11 inch kit. Will clear 16" and some 15 inch wheels depending on offsets and spoke design. Have you also looked into the Z32 front brakes?

Rear- Maxima, JDM NX2000 or P10.

On any of these make sure to upgrade your MC.

I think I am going to do the maxima rears and the 11 inch willwoods or something. I think that would work out well with an altima master if it will bolt up.

Also going to get some really good pads. Hopefully in ceramic for the street so there is a lot less dust. I hate cleaning the wheels.

What does it take to run Z33 fronts and stay 4x100?

That's what was on my old 98. It's a great setup. My new SER has NX front with stock rears. Absolutely no comparison.

BTW, the 11 inch kit will clear stock wheels with a 5mm spacer. Excuse the rusty rotor, I hadn't driven it for a few days when I took that picture. :o

I have the 11.75 wilwood kit on mine with maxaima rears. Carbotech Bobcats up front and Hawk Hps in the rear with an Altima M/C up front. This has been a great setup. Although it does have it's drawbacks. 16" wheels are a must. The 15" I've seen clear is the Team Dynamics 1.2. For an easier time with wheel selection maybe the 11" kit is better but I'm not too sure if that kit can slow down a 400hp car repeatedly without fading on a racetrack. I know I've NEVER had these fade on me. I've slowed my car down form 130+ mph without a problem. The hotter they get the more they bite but then again I don't drive a 400hp car. Either way, the wilwoods kits are what you need to bring that best to a hault when needed. Keep us updated with whatever you choose.

i would suggest for pads Project MU, NS compound they are excellent.

What wheels do you have? That might help.

running stockers now. I like the look of the car. And I don't want the wheels to get stolen. I'd like to keep them low-key. I really like the SSR comps, and the motegi traklite.

I'm sure that a better pad would help with stopping power a lot, but I know I will need something bigger next year.
