96 SE-R, how do i adjust the parking/rear brakes
like the title says i need to adjust if possible the rear brakes on my 96 se-r or does the car handle this all on its own. Thanks i bought the car used and the pads have some odd wear but still a little and the parking break does next to nothing. thanks all.

the parking cables could be stretched, or possibly not even connected.... there is a way to adjust them(the ebrake) but i dont know how(iv never had to do so). and if anything replace the pads and rotors it shouldnt be to much $$$

to adjust the cables I think you take the center console out or lift it up and the 2 cables attach to the e brake handle underneath the console, well on b13 at least I doubt nissan would change it to somewhere else on other models

Thats pritty close all you have to do is remove the shifter console, then the e-brake console. At the opposite end of the e-brake handle you'll notice a little 10mm nut on the end. Tighten the nut for more tention lossen for less tention. Then do the click test by pulling up the ebrake and listen for the clicks . I belive you should hear about 7-8 clicks, if not adjust if nessesary.

thanks all. I did the adjustment and figured out why my left side rear was locked down. someone who owned it before me and did the brakes, probably who ever put the stainless lines on took the one bolt off that mounts the cable to the caliper. when they put it back on the lock washer bit into the last thread on the bolt and siezed. so i guess when they tightened it it left like a 1/8 inch gap that allowed the bracket to move and not follow the path it shoud. gotta find the bolt from nissan cause i dont wanna reuse this one. but good news is today was full of win for both my cars thanks again all

hey just a update.... got the rear brakes settled and the fronts changed. it was the siezed bolt not the cable (thank god) so she stops and the parking brake works right for the first time since i bought the damn car. well its moving along just gotta work with a fender and grill and paint it. thanks again you guys.
