Thread: 2005 Altima SE-R brakes - they work well?

I currently got 2001 model twin piston front brakes on my little pulsar, they stop alright but as i have some nice rims on order, i want some bigger discs to fill in the gaps. i have been given a few options from my parts guy. Has anyone used the single piston 2005 Altima SE-R caliper and 320mm rotor? I know they clear the wheels I am using but will they suffer from brake fade?

not being able to sample an Altima SE-R makes it hard but would be nice if they work well so i can get the calipers in the same box as the rims! i can order the DBA 4000 series solted rotors once they arrive

Rather than wait around for a reply here, I checked out some reviews online. These brakes seem to do a good job in the reviews I been looking throgh so I took a gamble and bought the calipers for a good price. Pair cost me US$40 with free shipping with my wheels.

Unfortunately, I don't know much about those brakes but they might work. You will probably have to get a bracket made for them though. As for brake fade though, that will depend on the brake pads you get. Keep in mind the NX2000 front rotor size is around 260 mm or 250 mm and everyone recommends those. So in leu of that you are putting larger diameter brakes on your car which in turn will decrease the overall amount of heat generated and increase stopping power. So basically, if you can get a bracket made so the calipers will bolt up then you are set. Also, are Altima rotors 5 lugs rotors? If they are you will have to get those drilled out for a 4 lug pattern (or just buy some rotors with 4 lug patterns).

They are a bolt on option from what I have been told. I have the newer type hubs and the bolt pattern is no problem as the workshop will just order the brake rotors drilled to suit.

I have 280mm brakes right now and the authorities want bigger brakes so it is legal. This was the biggest I could find and for the price, was cheap. New rotors costing me $390 and then find some good brake pads.

Disc dimensions are 320mm diameter and are 28mm thick and are only 4.2mm deeper than the original brakes. The rotors are same as the 350Z Brembo package so looks like a nice cheap upgrade.

Found out the $390 I was quoted locally for DBA slotted rotors also included brake pads to suit and the current brake lines should bolt up so should cost no more than $550 fitted.

Had the brakes fitted up this week, are fantastic stopping power. Had an electronic brake test done for my car to pass registration and 100kmh to a full stop in 42 metres stock is suppoed to be 66 metres sccording to Nissans brochures.

clears 17" wheels but I have 18" wheels fitted now.

Just an FYI 06' maxima brakes are the exact same
