The biggest problem with getting input from members here, is that we all have a different idea of what 'perfect' is. For example, people are raving about the Progress coilovers. However, there are several for sale where the owners state the ride is too rough. Perfect and rough do not go together in my opinion.

The AGX's are a bit too harsh for my 44 year old ass as well.

I am replacing the AGX's with CSK's.
From everything I have read, which is quite a bit (and per Bennito Mallito's opinion), the Hyperco Gen II and CSK's is what I am after. A close to stock comfort-level suspension with greatly elevated performance abilities.

First, I would recommend that you try Koni strut inserts. See if you can catch a ride with a local Forum member that has these dampers. They make a world of difference compared to the AGX. It takes a little bit of effort to install Konis because you have to cut the top off the strut body, but there are lots of instructions on the Forums, and it's really not that hard.
Next is the question of springs. For the street, I'd recommend that you strongly consider sticking with the stock springs. Combined with the Konis set about 25% off dead soft, I think that you will like the compromise between comfort, control, and handling. If you want less body roll and more responsiveness, I've had good luck adding front and rear sway bars by White Line. For the B13, they sell a rear bar that has 2 settings.
If you absolutely need to lower your car, then you are going to have to go to shorter springs -- and this means that you will need to shorten your Koni struts to preserve suspenion travel, which will make the installation of the struts slightly more challenging. But doable. I've tried Eibach Pro-Kits with CSKs and cut bump stops and found that they still bottom out too much and really don't handle very well. I have also done the Hypercoils with AGX and CSKs and love them for the track but feel they are a little too much for the street. So I settled on White Line springs which seem to be somewhere between the Eibachs and the Hypercoils. I run them with CSKs and cut bump stops -- drive them every day on Washington DC streets. I wish that they rode a half inch higher, but they are the best shortened daily driver spring that I have found. Even so, it's a toss up for me when I think about going back to Konis and the stock springs. Knowing what I know now, I'd probably go with Koni reds, stock springs, and sway bars for a daily driver. Add light wheels and good tires and there are not many cars that can embarrass you in the turns with this set up.

That advice is reiterated by Steve Foltz (98sr20ve). In fact, he recommends just such a set-up in many instances.

And that is what I am buying. Right there. With a few extras, but that is the basics of my suspension.

This is my problem. I've had, and do own cars with properly paired springs and struts and you can have your cake and eat it too. Great handling and pliable ride are possible, but usually at a cost.

100% agreement.
I want nearly stock comfort with a greatly elevated performance envelope.
Therefore, I am making my car as stiff as humanly possible, sans any cage or in-cabin bracing. And the basis of my suspension will be the Hyperco Gen II springs with CSK's. Full OEM suspension travel (you lose an inch with the AGX's), a reasonable spring rate, and superior strut valving and performance.
I'm ordering a set of CSK's in January, someone smart and mechanically adept is gonna be building me a set.
