Cool.

Looking forward to getting this kit and adjusting this evil bump steer away. Also picked up a bump steer gauge to dial it in properly as this hasn't been done before on a Maxima that I know of.

YouTube - Longacre Bumpsteer Gauge Demo

Longacre Racing - Online Catalog: Electronic Wheel Scales, Gauges, Pyrometers, Chassis Setup and More!

It has to be drilled to the 5 x 114.3 bolt pattern for my car. It is just a blank plate but they are available in certain bolt patterns, not alot for street cars .

Wow great video, thanks for that.

Are we going to need spacers like shown in that video? or will that depend highly on how much the car is lowered as to whether spacers will be needed or even able to fit?

awesome video
in the future when asked about bumpsteer i will refer to this post

this is why i can't say what/how to set this kit up, the buyers are going to have to measure bumpsteer and add/remove/flip the rodends as needed for the desired effect

the kit comes with spacers.

i will be calling the machine shop tomarrow to check on the progress of our kits

thanks

Yeah that video helped me understand the bump steer gauge and was the deciding factor in me buying it.

You can also add another dial gauge from Longacre to the other side of the bump steer gauge and measure the static toe along with the bump steer.

I would also like to add if you attach a level that attaches to the hub with a magnetic base or some kind of adaptor you can measure dynamic camber change on compression and droop.

I have a Craftsman digital level and used a steel 1" x 1" x 12" L bracket with a bunch of rare earth magnets and I can attach it to the hub center and record the camber change. The camber isn't the actual amount but it helps to measure the relative change of camber through the suspension travel. I am having custom adjustable lower control arms made where they add more positive caster, I can also adjust the roll center and length of the arm to correct the dynamic camber change, and it will give me more static negative camber. With my current setup at full compression I get positive camber even with -2.0 degrees static camber dialed in with camber plates.

Would also like to add I am digging this forum as we can have discussions about advanced suspension tuning and not have people asking what is the best drop or the best coilovers to use.

Maxima.org is a bit behind on all this suspension stuff.

I may have to split a Bumpsteer gauge with my boss who does circle track racing. Currently he shims his rack with spacers and longer bolts its a Neon ACR. But it would be interesting for both him and myself to see how the bumpsteer is in an actual measurement instead of a seat of the pants thing. Keep in mind it is a purpose built circle track car so I am not sure how much or how accurate a reading we would be able to get. That kit looks like cheap insurance to me to make sure your car is acting like it should 100% of the time.
