Plans for '08?
Sort of like the thread Scott started at the old place on racecar buildups for next year, anybody planning new autocross builds or moving to a different class? Or just staying in the same class and tweaking some things?

I think I'm pretty much set on driving the SE-R in STS. I drove my friend's STS2 CRX on Bridgestone RE-01Rs in October and really liked them. I figure I can get away with no more than two sets of tires for the season, so it will be cheaper than driving the car in DSP or driving my Camaro again in FS. The only things I "need" for the car are bushings and 15X7.5" wheels (Rotas are only $500!). The car pretty much has everything else -- shortened Konis on the front, regular Koni inserts in the back, header, ECU, intake, adjustable rear sway bar, camber plates, motor mounts, Corbeau seat ...

It likely won't do well against the top-flight STS Civics but there aren't any in my area, and I only plan on running at two national events (DC Pro Solo and the National Championships).

Might move it on to DSP in 2009.

Of course, this may change midway through the season when I can't even beat local STS cars. Or I find a cheap Camaro SS hood and decklid to convert my car to an SS and run in F Stock.

Anyone else?

Pat

I am going to step up to Nasa-x "E" from F. After 8 class wins in 12 events mulitple top 8 overalls, I think its time. A few more guys moving up as well. I can develop the car some more and have just as much fun. Right now on the R-comps only a few STI's and Vetts are besting my times. I would be interested to see how the car does with the SCCA Although Id probably be murdered class wise. I really dont want to be on a street tire. Im spoiled.

still in STS for the time being. once the clutch goes, i'll change that and the flywheel and move up to FSP. bmwcca classes non-bmw's based on cylinders and if you have a turbo or not, so CSP MR2's are the normal competition there. i don't mind, makes it more fun

I have no idea what I am doing next year....

Since my co-drive from the last 2 years is being sold, the ITR I have not found a new ride yet.

I *could* do the SE-R in STS again... but with the level of STS/2 cars in my region it will be painful.

I would also have to upgrade the suspension since I'm still on AGX/Hypercos.

Pat, are you thinking of the 195 RE01Rs for the car?

Yeah unless there's some other uber-tire that comes out in a better size. All the 16" RE01Rs are like another inch in diameter. Wheee, I just lowered the car 1-1/2" but raised it back up a half inch! Not to mention gearing. Even the 275/35/15 Hoosiers aren't as tall as those 16s.

I switched to DSP locally because I have a secondhand source of FREE Toyo RA-1's from a Spec Miata driver. They are not anywhere near the pace of a Hoosier or Kumho, but they're fun and they last.

If I actually spent money on tires, the RE-01's sound good. With my AD22VF's, I'd be in STX. There is a single-format ProSolo tentatively scheduled in Arkansas, and maybe some Tour/Pro stuff in the KC/Topeka area. I might race in STX just to race somewhere.

For fun, of course. The car wasn't top-prepped for STS, so it's not like it's going to get any easier.

My car is going to rock for trackdays, though.

Well I ran one event in STS, I like it, need to really tweak my suspension.... and get an alignment. Got some steelies that need some rubber around them, then I should be doing OK

After that, booooost, and I should be in STX.... yeah If it all goes to plan...

I'm gonna be running my LE in HS this year. I just installed AGX and they feel pretty good.

Just an update, committed* to running my car in STS this year. The Bridgestone RE-01Rs arrived today, shaved down to 4/32nds. The rebuilt Konis are on the car (shortened Foltz inserts in Maxima housings in front, regular B13 inserts in OEM housings in the rear), and a rear STB from Bolt In Bars (see vendor section at the old site) should be here tomorrow. From the pictures I've seen of the Bolt In Bars STB, it is a hell of a lot more sturdy than the Active Tuning bar (which apparently is on backorder anyway, and the B13 Sentra Bolt In Bars are ready to ship).

I'm going with the Bridgestones on the 15X7 Koseis I have now. If I'm searching for an extra couple tenths later in the year, I'll think about 15X7.5s.

The first autocross is a test and tune the first weekend in April, then another test session the following week then the first event of the WDCR-SCCA championship series!
