Ice Time Trial this weekend in VT.
I plan to run in an Ice Time Trial event with the Sports Car Club of Vermont this weekend on Lake Champlain. I'll be using my Menard ice racing tires [hollow tipped studs molded in].

Anyone else here interested?

I highly suggest it! Ridiculous amounts of fun.

Damn I left Vt about a month ago. Hearing you still have ice makes me glad I left though, I'm enjoying the 50s here

I had been wanting to run at one of the Sports Car Club of Vermont's Ice Time Trial events for years. Yesterday I finally got up there. Weather permitting, these are held on Sundays on Mallets Bay [Lake Champlain] in Colchester, VT. Usually, events can take place until the first or second weekend in March. As usual, I had the only Nissan in the event.

I ran in a class called the "Super" Studs. This class is pretty much anything goes regarding screws/studs.

I've never seen anything faster than those for ice. Anything more than street studs has to run in the "Super" Studs class. I don't have any home built screw tires, so I ran on my Menards [which are not nearly as fast] but still had a terrific event. I think I was third or fourth quickest overall. Here is what Menard recapped ice racing tires look like.

Studs are hollow tipped and molded in.

Up in northern VT they only got about 6" of snow on Friday and they had 17" of ice in the bay. Track conditions were excellent. They had what I consider to be just the right amount of cars participating, at about 30. Plenty to pay the bills, but not the 60+ car fields that sap your seat time.

There is a great picture link HERE.
