Thread: Ironman weekend-drag,autocross,rallycross

This weekend in Huntsville, AL.
Drag race at Huntsville Speedway on Friday night, then autocross on Saturday, then rallycross on Sunday at a site outside Huntsville.

You have to drive the same car for all events, but you can change tires.

Event report:

Drags rained out-no time, but 3 points for showing up anyway!

Autocross: finished first in class (EP) with 62.6, but about 5th against other competitors in the Ironman, getting 4 points. Fasted time for Ironman was 59.9 for an STX WRX

Rallycross: 1st in M2, 2nd overall, 10 points for the win. Lost to a stripped 1993 Impreza AWD with a JDM WRX engine swap. Very fast car. I was 6-8 seconds back after about 6 minutes of driving-it was very close!

Total: 17 points

Unfortunately, the guy who won the autocross got 18 points, so he is the 2010 Ironman champion, but I came in 2nd with my 17 points!

That's a cool idea.

Last weekend I went to the drags on Friday, then autocrossed on Sunday. I'm a race-a-holic.

I'm chairing a RallyCross in a few weeks (co-driving the Happy SE-R), and it's actually held in the field adjacent to the drag strip. Hmm...

It was awesome to see you out there in the Sentra. Even though you were slower than that Impreza/WRX monster, you were definitely quick! I had trouble following you with the camera. I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures and video, and I'll see you at another event soon.

Tim is a good driver and that car is VERY fast! I was very pleased to be within a second of him. Earlier this year, he had 4-5 seconds a run on me at an event!

Thanks for taking those pics. I forgot to stop for camera mount hardware, so I have only these vids and pics as memories. I'm glad you were there!
