Thread: Radiator Question

So, is it true that my koyo rad makes my car a "prepared" car? That's my reading of the scca rules but it seems hard to believe since it really doesn't do much for performance per se.

I take it you are trying to stay in ST or STX? Have you looked in the SCCA rule book online?

I'll double check, but I don't "think" you can do an upgraded radiator, unless it's another OEM rad from a car that is on the same line as your car.

I guess I was aiming for touring, but really I just want to go out and drive my car hard and have some fun.

I did go out and find & read the online rule book to see where the car would fall. I already have the rad in it - the plan was just to take it out "as is". I guess I was just surprised that it kicks it into a totally different class, which is my reading of the online rule book.

If you're just aiming to have fun, I know our region has a 'tire class' for novices on street tires. That way it won't matter how your car classes.

Some regions have novice classes. But if you are just out to have fun, it won't really matter which class you are in the first few times.

If you're just going to have fun it shouldn't matter what class you run in. What's done to your car so far? Running in SP isn't always a bad thing.

I agree. Just have fun. I never have a clue and couldn't care less what group I'm in. I just run as best as I can and then judge my times against the others at the end of the day.
