My Rallycross Update from Oct 5, 2008
A last-minute Rallycross was scheduled here in Nashville for Oct. 5 to give everyone one last chance to run before the National Championships in a few weeks.
It was actually my first chance to run with this car, since almost every Rallycross in Nashville this year was cancelled.
So it was evident during the parade lap that the surface was extremely hard packed and rough...was it like this before?? Paul Eklund had taught a Rally School here a few months ago, so Randy Lee took some of what they did and applied it to the course. Which meant there was a cool "bridge" that converted a section of the course into a reversible section, kind of. Hard to explain, but way cool to drive.
In my very first run, I had 2nd gear pop out, and I thought, "wow this must be rough stuff for it to pop out of gear." But it didn't make sense because that had never been an issue in my dads car.
In my 2nd run, I tried to hold it in 2nd, but that didn't work, and you'll see in video, I even hurriedly put it in 4th..!
So after the 2nd run, I noticed an exhaust leak, so I look under the car to try and spot it and there is trans fluid pouring out of the bottom. I jack it up and find a hairline crack from the shift rod to somewhere up under the trans.
I call it a day, and long-story-short, patch up the crack, refill and limp home.
So now I have 2 weeks to:
You'll hear me whizzing by in an accidental 4th gear after my 2nd gear popped out.

Anyway here are some boring static pics:
As a side note, my dad's mostly stock SE-R drove like buttah. He let me go for a fun run, since I missed most of mine.

So now I have 2 weeks to:
- Do motor mounts
- Fab and mount a skidplate
- Swap a transmission
