Gtir cams vs stock de
So I installed a set of stock Gtir cams into my n/a JDM sr20de. First thing i noticed was a very lopey idle. I was really surprised about how it sounded. Sounds almost exactly like JWT s4's. First trip around the block definitely noticed a loss of low end TQ. Got a chance to take it to the dyno and here are the results. I will try and get the print out up tomorrow. Mods are WAI, hotshot gen 4 header, magnaflow muffler, timing at 17

These were all done on the same Mustang dyno.
Stock cams

135whp
122wtq

Gtir cams
141whp
118wtq

Now I gained 6whp but that wasnt until 6800rpm. before that I lost as much as 18whp. TQ curve was alot lower through out the rpm range. Im going to swap in the stock intake cam and dyno again. Ill post the graphs tomorrow.

I didn't think you could use the solid lifter cams from an R in a hydraulic lifter motor?? Interesting...

I think you need to adjust the cam gears a bit. If you don't have adjustables then file down the dowel pins and advance the intake and retard the ex cam a bit.

How long have the cams been in? The ECU needs a couple of days to fully adjust itself...

No offense Doc, but isn't it a bit risky filing down the dowel pins on the cams? There's always room for error when you do this, and the cams could end up slipping on the cam gears. I'd rather get adjustable cam gears, than have any possibilities of the cams slipping and doing more damage.

Humm interesting!! Do you have pics of this done to a oem cam gear? Thanks

Great numbers on the DE, did you try advancing the timing to 19-21? my brother got 151whp &138wtq but with BC2 Good luck
