I've been pretty quiet sitting and watching... but I've been gritting my teeth too long... I'm pretty excited to see what this thing will do power wise. I don't know why but I really like well built simple de's for some reason, Plus builds always intruige me.

Good Luck, glad to see you are enjoying her!

sooo, anyone out there have any good suggestions on setting my cams? I have talked to some people and dyno tuning could run me $600-700. I really do not feel like spending that much money to squeeze an extra few horsepower out of my motor. sooo, anyone out there have any good suggestions on dialing in my cams? I will just do this by trial and error and use my butt dyno.
IIRC advancing both cams moves the powerband down, and retarding both cams moves the powerband up (or I could have it backwards). Has anyone out there had good results with certain settings?

whew 600-700 just to dial in the cams? or is that for dyno time too or just the adjustments?

rob, have you talked to the people at agile automotive? brian works there, he is a member of the forum.

* 2WD Dyno:3 Power Runs: $75.00
* AFC Tuning: $140.00 / hour
* Engine Management Tuning: $185.00 / hour
* Do It Yourself Tuning: $120.00 / hour

also, not sure if it will work or not.....................but if you have a spare valve cover laying around you could cut the end of the vlave cover off to expose the cam gears.

drive to agile with your normal VC, get there early before your dyno time and swap covers in the parking lot..........doing this will shave atleast an hour off the dyno time because you wont need to keep pulling your valve cover.

not sure if that will work.............you shouldnt leak any oil because the timing area is sealed off correct? ...it late i cant really think right lol.

I'm going to get a dyno run or two soon, then I will just get some input from other forum members who have run similar setups and dialed in their cam gears. That way I can get it in the area and then just go get another run or two.
Even with the DIY tuning at $120 an hour, that still has the potential to get up into the $300-400 range if it takes more then 2 adjustments.
cutting the VC would splash oil all over, and I don't have the slide type gears anyways. I have the fixed CS style gears.

I reckon it would pay to buy some slide type gears to sell on again after the tuneup, and use "denso tape" (green sticky stuff used for windows in greenhouses etc) to stop oil spraying out the cut-line in the cover.

I'm not too concerned about it. Just wonderin if anyone out there had any settings that worked for them.
