there is nothing to go back and forth about.

SR16VE is 13.5 to 1

N1 is about 1 point lower.

Sorry for bringing up an old thread but can someone tell what CR an sr20ve with an N1 head will yeild? N1 head is shaved 1mm compared to std sr16ve.

I was guessing around 11:1?

Thanks

It has to be higher than 11 to 1. I can not give a 100% correct answer but I can say this.

If you figure these things in.

The diffrence from a SR16VE 11 to 1 to N1 11.9 to 1 is .9

The N1 piston has less of a domb than than the SR16VE this is the unknown.

That being said SR16VE pistons in a N1 would be higher than 11.9 to 1. I would guess about .5 more.

So my guess to this is a N1 head on a SR20VE would be 11.8 to 1 compression.

You might have misunderstood me im not changing piston, well not for now! just putting N1 head on an SR20VE.

Thanks

I did not misunderstand you!

I think you misunderstood me.

Look guy a N1 head is shaved down which raises the compression.

So let me say it again.

A SR16VE head and SR20VE head have the same combustion chamber size. SR16VE n1 head has a smaller cumbustion chamber size as it has been shaved down.

Now if you have a completely stock SR20VE bottom end and you out a N1 head on it. Then your compression will be about 11.8 to 1.

Why does this happen. Well the compression diffrence between a SR16VE and SR16VE N1 is .9 point of compression. This is because the head is shaved but also the piston of a SR16VE N1 has a smaller dome. This has to be taken into consideration.

So that being said you got .9 diffrence from the change and less piston area.

I figure the piston diffrence from a N1 to SR16VE is .6

add the 2 together and thats 1.5

so the diffrence would be 10.3 add to that 1.5 and you got 11.8. to 1 compression.

Sorry!

Thanks i understand now i was only adding on for the shaved head. 11.8:1 is perfect! Will be posting a thread on the build when i start, just received some parts from gspec and waiting on my sr20ve from UK.

Thanks again
