That probably is it. I have been pouring over old threads for days now just taking in all I can regarding tq, hp, cam gear settings, exhaust size, and what ecfect they all have on TQ and HP.

I hopefully should see a little bit more Tq come back once I have my cams dialed in properly, but also going up in collector size might lose a little.

I am following this thread cause I wanted to go 3" to see if I could gain a little something, also that Dyno chart was on JWT S5 tight as hell at +7.5 / -7.5, I might want to reconsider, but at $100 the hour its difficult to test cam gears with the JWT cam gears

Anyway S5 are bigger than BC 3 IIRC AND SR16 Pistons have more compression than Flat Tops

I think part of gtswrx's higher peak Tq has to do with the JWT cams. If I interpreted what I read correctly, JWT already has their cams lobe centers degreed a bit in the directions that you want it. The BC seem to only be useful when you have cam gears. I am hoping to bring back some more tq once I dial in my exhaust gear.

Yeah Mike K said that the prototypes JWT S5 liked +7.5 / -7.5 and therefore JWT produced them like that afterwards...

BC are more Turbo cams than they are N/A so cam gear magic is required, am I correct?

That is correct. If you go search for a dyno sheet for the BC stage 2 cams run NA, they don't even think about power untill around 5000 + RPM. That is the reason the BC cams are$250 and the JWTs are $600. But a $100 set of gears, and a few hours of dyno time put that right, so in the end it all comes out to the same. I am trying +4 , -2 and +3, -2 this week I will run each one for a day or two and then dyno the one that feels better to me.

Just beware the seat of the pants dyno.

To me, +5 / 0 felt the best on the S5

heh gotcha. Well I'm only going to be changing the gears by 1* each time, so it should change too much, and I will find out if it is better then +2, 0 on saturday.

The idea is that a $1 dollar crystal change will give you another 500 rpm, and hopefully just a little past peak.

I would try the cams at +2 on the exhaust and -2 on the intake. I had a similar setup and that was the best all around.

And the whole time I was thinking these numbers were a bit low for a VE....then I saw its a DE, nice man!!
