Here is a post with some names of headers to start you off: http://www.sr20-forum.com/all-motor/4869-ebay-header.html#post64970

Here is one of a million threads about the SSAC (Stainless Steel Auto Chrome?) knock-off header (basically a Hotshot Gen IV knock-off but also available with a better 2.5" collector). These headers are sold under so many names now, no one keeps track. Just get one that looks correct from eBay.

Here are a few threads as well. Again, not too much final conclusion on these.

Some good reads about headers in general that I have accumulated over the years. Like I said, there is a lot that goes into them and it is not a one size fits all.

Folks, thanks for helping to contribute. Yes, I should have done more research on my own, but I've been doing most of my web browsing on a small screen lately during odd moments, and when I can finally get back to my computer at home I'll be doing some work to pull some of the data into this thread.

OP, I suggest putting all of these links in some sort of organized manor in your first post. This will make it easier for everyone to find the info later on.

I am running a 4-2-1 header built by Charles. (Originally on Joe's Panda). Full merge, 2.5" collector. TQ peak is around 6500rpm (previous SSAC was around 5500). Currently on a 9.5:1 highport DE with S4HL cams.

Here's a better pic of the underside with the 2-1 merge installed:
