91 vs 94 ?
Recently purchased a 94 G20t. The engine has the low port head. I have an additional 91 Highport engine also from a G20. Which engine would be better for performance modifications like a turbo? Please don't laugh I'm new at this. 😜

The lowport flows better. You'll make slightly more power with the lowport engine.

Keep the low port head, and swap in the intake cam from a 91 SE-R for the best of both worlds.

Wat?

Edit: Ben Fenner kinda supports this statement so I guess its true, but this is news to me

Charles has flow bench data posted to back it up somewhere around here.
It's the only explanation for how the low port cars had slightly higher top speeds than the high port cars even though they had weaker intake cams.

Same reason why I want to do 54C stuff and why I think other folks should not discount a 54C cylinder head, Because the 54C outflows the highport and lowport engines and he also tells us that a worked 54C head can outflow a stock VE head. Lots of good info there.

Also, the highport intake manifold is better for higher RPM running. I could tell the difference the first drive i had in a highport SR20 vs my standard of lowport SR20 for a decade. (even with the same intake cam "bump")

Both our 95 g20 and 94 SE-R have lowport engines
