Standalones and daily driving dont mix. sure you can do it, but you can also drive an 8 second super stock mustang to work....can. Im not dissing Ben at all....love that hes going crazy with the car. Im just a believer in using the right tool for the job for efficiency sake. a realtime ecu will probably give you everything you want. You can control everything that makes power, fuel and ignition timing. Then you let the ecu control everything else its susposed to like...idle.
On our ITA motor build, we made good power on a dynopac dyno. 150+. ITA motor is stock cams, .5 compression increase, 40overbore, port matching only one inch into the head, and big manly hotshot gen6 header. Around the paddock, its a kitten cause the low load/rpm range is basicly stock. She idles and purrs just fine. Top end you are uncorked.
you want to make power? Ditch that SSAC, get a real header. Thats really where a lot of sr20 power is made. Gen6 is one of the bests. Turbofreak's header is probably top right now. Put that with the most open exhaust you can stand....there's your power.
