That 185 WHP figure assumes you have (and will be using) 93 octane available to you in GA.

If your using a UK RR engine....you'll need JWT S3R cams. Because BC2 are for non- roller rockers.

^Octane 93 is all my car will ever see.......If I can make get 180WHP I would happy with that, but more is always better with what I'm working with. Even though I think I will be leaning towards going with a Calum Realtime, which E-Management would yield me the most power? Why did you ask me about all the stuff in post #15? Were you referring to the EMS giving me those numbers over the Calum ECU?

^They have UK RR engines? I knew the JDM made them, but wasn't sure about the UK. ALL RR engines are lowports correct? I have a highport so I don't think my engine is a RR.

my Guess, 175whp tuned to the max or 155whp barley tuned. not enough compression or cam to really make power.

edit: that's a UK 10:1 DE non rr engine.

As long as the engine management system has stock or higher map resolution, stock or better injector control and stock or better ignition timing resolution you should be able to extract "max" power from the engine. As far as I know, any EMS you'll use will meet those requirements, so I wouldn't look to get more power using AEM over Calum (for example).

Full stand-alone engine management systems take a lot of time and effort to set up properly. Even then, you may never have the correct control mechanisms or hardware in place to make the engine operate as smoothly as stock. Even if you get lucky and get a well known EMS, with a well known base tune it will still pale in comparison to the millions of hours experience that went into the stock tune, making it ultra smooth in all operating conditions. If you want to approach something of that level of tune, you're going to be paying those few who have it figured out properly, and hold their tune closer to themselves than their children (as it is their livelihood). A car with stand-alone will have issues the factory car never had, period. Any fuel injected car will have an unbeatable tune from the factory when it comes to daily driveability. You may be able to improve upon a carburetted engine, but that's where I draw the line. I guess I'm beating a dead horse here. You get the idea.

It's not that you couldn't live with it and be extremely happy. It's just how much you're willing to put up with. It doesn't sound like any full stand-alone EMS is in your future.

This was my thinking...

10.0:1 SR20DE with EMS -> 160 WHP
UR 4 piece pulley set -> 164
8lb fidzana flywheel -> 166
BC2 cams -> 176
2.5" SSAC -> 182
Full 2.5" VRS SS exhaust kit -> 185 WHP
Thermal Spacer kit -> icing
Pop Charger -> more icing

Obviously he could make as little as 155 WHP if it's left untuned as you mentioned...

^^ good point, I might try EMS later down the road. I need to get atleast 1 project running at a time!! lol! you think your project is taking long, you have no idea!

it's like Robchaos set up tuned correctly, I think he can see 195whp easy.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Everyone has been a help to me. I'll be looking into a calum ECU. Thank you for the thread you made on the stock DE BenFenner. That encouraged me to start me own thread and weigh my options. I think I have it narrowed down a little more.
