Could one just use an adjustable FPR?

Blackb15, that's a simple question with a real complicated answer. Not sure if we should clutter the thread with that. Make a new one?

A Calum RT as you said is the way to go.

If you're going to stick with the stock ECU then at the very least you'll need something to control fuel with. If that is a SAFC, then so be it. You won't find me recommending them, but it should "work" for your situation.

^I think I agree. So are you saying that a shop would be able to fine tune better on a RT and have that tune burned on a basic instead of them trying to fine tune from just the basic unit itself? Also, what tuning device do shops normally use?

You can't get a "better" tune on the RT, it will just be SOOO much easier and faster to do so. It's the same thing OEMs do. They have a multi-million dollar "ECU" that they use to tune their engines with because it gives them a lot more control. When they are finished tuning, they "burn" the tune to some chips and slap them on $30 worth of hardware and put it in the car. You get the same tune, it just costs a lot less. But if you're the one doing the tuning, you will want the more expensive equipment to make things go faster and easier.

I don't know of any shops that have taken to the Calum ECU like Calum planned. I could be very wrong though. Most people use NIStune I think, but I heard other options are out there. I don't really keep up with that stuff.

I don't really plan on using one, was just wondering.

And after lots of searching, I have come to the conclusion that my motor is indeed NOT a 10:1 motor.

Oh well.

^I also have a nismo fpr and a gauge for it. I'll be on the hunt for a SAFC2. I'm really trying to do things the right way the first time, but with the waiting list for a Calum RT and my future VE plans, I think this is the best solution. I really don't want to waste money on a JWT ECU, not that they are bad and I could easily sale the SAFC2 in the future as long as it is still functioning properly.

You should go ahead and jump on that waiting list. If he is taking orders again.

^Do you have it on a stock ECU? How much did you give for it? New or used? You have a aftermarket FPR?

MR-4Door, I just wanted to say that I love the build you are doing. I think it is definetly possible to make the power you are shooting for. I would only do one thing different, and that is get an ASP header. the cams coincide with this header much better than the SSAC. FYI I'm in the process of doing a very similar build (verrry slowly), on stock compresion, and I will eventually put that up sometime. I don't even have my car on the forum yet. Since you need every hp you can get, take a look at this. This made me put a hotshot cai, popcharger, and nismo fpr on the list. It's old but good.

Interesting low buck intake stuff for big hp - SR20 Forum

Best of Luck!

Dave
