How did you measure the "better results" when you compare 91 camshaft set to the BC cams? I am curious to hear your experience.

I went from the 91 intake cam set > BC 2 > JWT S3 > BC 2 and I am thinking about putting the 91 back in again since I don't do anymore fun running. However, from all of those, I would prefer the BC 2 set and I have dyno results and graphs that show all the gains (and losses) of each set except for JWT S3. I could not stand it long enough to get to a dyno.

By chance, is there a link or do you have pics of the dyno graphs? I am curious, and trying to cover all my bases. I considered the 91 intake cam, and although cheap, the VE build will be pieced together and I have given myself a time-frame of 12-14 months for parts acquisition, build (going to rely on friends and try to do as much myself as a learning experience and to keep costs down), and install (apartment dweller, will need a place or shop to swap).

From what I have read the BC2s have low end loss ad gains generally above 5k drip in. Wouldn't the Tomei or s4 give me the "better" overall driving experience?

I would just wait for a right set of S4 cams. They are worth the money. And i would suggest to get it tuned, makes even more difference.

Leaning that way Jagy. A tunable ECU is in the plans for the eventual VE set-up. Not a priority yet, as I know cams should work fine on the g20 ECU in the meanwhile. Once I get the tunable ECU I will look into a custom tune until the VE swap.

Whatever I can get for the overall nest pricepoint will be my goal.

HUGE EDIT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR @Boostlee

@Boostlee Find it and link it and help out some (myself included), perhaps?

I have over 15,000 miles on the BC 2 cams I bought used from Pedronx2k so the reliability thing is a bit of a new experience I am reading right now. I have heard of plenty of people being disappointed with the results but 99% of those people do not listen to the manufacturers information given sooo it can be misleading.

There are links in my signature to all of my dyno screen grabs, @FormerRSXSowner If you have anymore questions, let us know.

---These dynos are on two different machines so they cannot be used to directly compare!!

Blue is stock cams.
Red is BC Stage 2 cams.
Same car, same intake and exhaust bolt-ons, different dynos.

P.S. I made sure they were the same graphs from before.

What do you want to do with your car? DD, weekend warrior, autocross, fair weather car?

@Kyle

Considering
1) How many people other than yourself who have had issues with BC Stg2
2) The OP deciding against them
3) The fact that I had issues myself

No.....I am not willing to drudge through a bunch of threads . You are more than welcomed to however

P.S What were the specs of that JWT ECU when on the dyno?? Between the SAFC2 and the JWT, that right there could potentially account for some inconsistency in your dyno results.

Also, the only thing the BC stg 2 have according to your dyno is peak values. The area under the curve (for the torque especially), compared to the SE-R cam, is fairly similar until about 6250, then surges and begins to fall off. Effectively a power band of 1000 RPM with the G20 ECU. For a stock car, I am not sure I want to live between 6250 to 7500 on my daily commute

Yeah, again, those BC cams are garbage in my book. But hey, that's just "word of mouth"

@Boostlee , I might have missed that part where the OP passed on the Stage 2 cams but let's address this.

Whatever I can get for the overall nest pricepoint will be my goal.

If you want to help this guy, then try to help him. (and you might even help the rest of the forum at the same time, two for one deal)

Whatever I can get for the overall nest pricepoint will be my goal.

I presented my experience with some evidence.

Whatever I can get for the overall nest pricepoint will be my goal.

The ECU was a normal POP ECU. I talked to Clark about this and discuseed him about the cams I was using and he recommended the POP program and I also tried the JWT C1 program and there was no difference measured on the same dyno. Also tried E60 vs stock MAF from JWT ECU program changes and had little change with output power. The timing was bumped to a 25* base idle timing to smooth the lopey idle out that is caused by JWT cams (that BC does not have)

I am not even sure what is the OP's desired goal or operating range for the car or engine. And Boostlee, when you don't live in the city, you can actually open up the car and enjoy the higher RPM with ease and net more smiles per gallon while living in the higher end. I have a 50/50 split commute and I am split 50/50 on which I prefer. I do prefer moreso now to make the power where I am using it while daily driving and for that, Roller Rocker engine with S3R cams (or Tomei) would be the bees knees, imho.

I want to switch for the pure sake of trying something new. But fuck my experience and trying to share it, right.

@Kyle You just admitted to not even reading the OP statement, but hence going forth to issue a recommendation...........

The OP DID say BC stage 2, people came on and said they sucked. Then you came on, showed us a dyno and I stated why they suck BASED OF YOUR OWN DYNO RESULTS!

Whats da problem?? You just did all the work for me and all so why am I drudging through threads and wasting my time when the OP already decided against it??

And to answer your statement: For the price point of the BC stg 2 and the fact that all they offer is peak numbers and inconsistency, they aren't even worth the box they came in............

Exactly how i my car feels on the road = very bad! Totally unacceptable for daily driver.

You can see my S4 cams dyno, it makes much better powerband than any BC stg2 dyno ive seen.

S4´s are best drop-in cams and they loss very little down low (only under aprox. 3500rpm). I did 5+ setups with them, including mine and it was very fast for what it was. They are far better than BC stg2 that are really poor designed for N/A.

You only confuse new members with very bad advices.

agreed! people need to spreading info like this

and dont waste your money just save for a ve or throw nitrous into it and use that on the ve when you get it
