Regardless of cost, you'd be bonkers to daily a big cammed DE. They drive like a dog below 3k, where a VE is nice and smooth on the baby cams.
I dont think we should be knocking the DE, it may be 'old school', but its still a capable engine. The VE is a newer, more modern design, so will be better.

Technically, all the VE talk is off-topic since this is the All-Motor (DE) section.

@op

S4's held me out for two years, til I had pieced enough to boost my car. I was whoopin basic B series motor Hondas all day, lol. You asked about stage II cams, I have a set that's going in my brothers car soon, that I bought from a gt35r setup.

Can't go wrong with cammed DE .... for now.

That's what I was going to say. My VE netted 164ft-lbs of torque at the WHEELS. That's much higher than a bolt-on DE, probably by about 30ft-lbs

How so? This section just says Allmotor. It does not say allmotor DE. So we are on the SR20 forum, in the Allmotor section, meaning a motor with no power adders and a VE motor is a SR motor that has no power adders. The VE section is just VE specific.

Redundancy check, sir. VE section means all the VE talk should be in there and leave the underlings to the lowly DE in the titled "Pushing the SR20DE to the limit" section. Having VE threads in two sections is redundant.

What is more questionable is should an SR20VE+T or SR16VE+T be in the Turbo section or the VVL section?

Shit, has anyone done a SR16VE-T? I can't recall reading anyone doing it

Not necessarily; I can set my activation point to 4800RPM and that's not high at all really compared to an S2000

Changing your VVL engagement point does nothing to affect where the engine makes its peak power. Adjustable cam gears is a different story...
