Sr16ve n1 .020
Finally got my set of se16ve n1 pistons in for my de build and was told the rings that were sent to me were sr20ve .020 rings and they would fit....well guess what no dice! Anyone have a clue as to where I would find a set of factory sr16ve n1 .020 rings? I really don't want to have a custom set of rings made if it is possible to find a set of factory ones.

I thought sr16ve, sr16ve n1, and sr20ve non 20v uses the same piston rings. Also rr sr20de too.

What's the part number on the package for your 86.5mm pistons and for your 86.5mm rings?

From '97-'01, Nissan used the same part number for the oversize (by .02") rings for the 16VE, 20VE and N1 piston. So, in theory, they should all fit. However, it is not unlike Nissan to make slight changes to a part and yet still use the same part number. For instance, Nissan now uses (from 2001+) a different part number for oversize rings for the 20VE piston vs, the 16VE N1 piston. Maybe they made a specific change to the pistons and/or rings after 2001? If this were the case and you ordered the latest N1 oversize pistons and were given the latest 20VE oversize rings.........

Latest orderable part number for 86.5mm 20VE piston ring set is: 12035-4M810
Latest orderable part number for 86.5mm N1 piston ring set is: 12035-2J210

Latest orderable part number for 86.5mm N1 piston is: A2010-1N577

The good news is that the ring set (N1 86.5mm - 12035-2J210) can be ordered at your local Nissan/Infiniti dealer. The 2001 Infiniti G20 also uses this ring set for it's oversize (by .02) 86.5mm pistons. You can also google the number and a bunch of online Nissan/Infiniti dealers show listings for the piston ring set.

All of this information is based on part numbers from the Nissan parts catalogue. I have no personal experience with o/s 20VE or N1 rings.

Ok so i googled the part number this morning and instead of dealing with my local nissan dealer that had told me there is no such part number icalled my local infinity dealer. The parts manager said he could get them no big deal 3 days away! So i loaded up the truck and went up to pay for them. When i arived he had bad news they were 45+ days away only to find out you can get them in japan only. 45 days thats in a shiping container only. So being crafty i called my machinest and we measured the ring gaps. I called hasting piston rings with the measurements and ill have them by tuesday!!! I plan on doing a write up on all the measurements i recorded and the part numbers on the new rings from hastings so if anyone goes down this road they wont have so much leg work and a huge blistering head ache.
