Timing chain differences. 13028-53J03 & 13028-1N500
What are the difference between these two chains?

13028-1N500 is listed for the VE and the 13028-53J03 is listed for all the other sr's

But what is the difference? I know that they are all interchangeable.

Roller Rocker is probably the same as VE, my 99 Lowport also was same design. They have more teeth thus are more precise. They don't require timing guide that sits between the two cams.

More teeth where? So the chains have more links? Or the same

NONE of the SR20's require that piece of crap. Nissan f'kd up on that one.

I suggest removing it if you ever have the valve cover off. It's two 12mm bolts I believe. Take it out and smash it with a hammer, lol. All it does is cause start up clatter and damage the chain over time.

I like to believe that Nissan put that there for when the timing chain guide tensioner breaks or runs out of adjustment, but there is a reason for it.

The later tensioners had an improved design which lead to the removal of the timing chain guide.

If your chain is smacking that guide, you have a bigger issue than the annoying sounds of it.

Moar input.

IDK. During a JWT S3 cam install I removed the timing chain guide from my first 91 SE-R and the start up clatter stopped. It's a piece of unnecessary junk IMO.

PTen is asking about the chain not the tentioner.

The chains are interchangeable since the cam gears and crank gear are the same. I'm using a DE chain on my VE.

The diffrence in the part numbers has to do with the color of the timing links being diffrent. That being said the chains are the same.
