so who's crunching and doing mods to better help their MPG's?


rite now i'm getting about 25-26 mpg on my p10

add timing, check gap on plugs, new O2 sensor/dist cap/rotor. Header and a 2.25" exhaust is best for MPG, anything larger will get power, but mileage will drop from what I used to see on NA cars.

On turbo cars, run 14.5:1 when cruising and 14:1 at idle and 12:1 boosting (or lower pending setups and boost amount).

Pretty much Brent said plus regrounding kit. Also re grounding you MAF helps also. Keep tires inflated right..etc.

Both Vadium and I are on this kick with many others.

Keep junk away from your car, every cd case, magazine, garbage means weight

Maybe tapping the EGR would help too

tuning is KEY period

Some at with the cost of performance/comfort- smaller lighter/narrower wheels/tires,the smaller lighter brakes,not using the heat/ac/lights/stereo and any other electrical things, auto transmission swap.

Some that benefit performance lowering the car and other aero mods, front spoiler/air damn (extending not much more than 50mm), possibly vented hood (not the hood scoop kind the kind like evos have), belly pan/under tray for the engine bay and possibly the underside of the whole car, antenna removal, wiper removal. Higher fuel pressure/cooler fuel. Free flowing intake and exhaust, lighter flywheel, pulleys, lighter engine internals.

I have never heard of adding timing helping MPG? I have seen that taking some away and staying off the throttle helping.

Read up on hyper mileage. Should get you into the 30's easily. 25-26 is that in city driving? Sounds kinda low if its highway. Last time I checked I was getting better then quoted MPG estimates during my highway drives. I was also purposely driving at 65 mph. I'm sure i'd get even better mileage at 55. But I wasn't willing to drive that slow, lol. Well at least not here in the south where posted speed limits are up to 70mph in some places.

Underdrive pulleys, lightweight flywheel, remove a/c, remove power steering, gut the trunk, remove sound deadener, coast to a stop/don't downshift.

Sport compact car or turbo magazine, i forget which one, just had a mileage article in their magazine and they said to down shift to save gas because the engine uses less fuel under vacuum than during idle.
