Winter tuning thoughts..
Ok, I have been reading for weeks, and I'm very confused, by all the numbers, and everything..

Ok, so what I have is a sr20de and 5 speed trans out of an s14 Silvia. It's mostly stock, but running a custom intake and a Sentra exhaust manifold. Has a lightweight flywheel and clutch.

It's in my roadster. My plan for the car is canyon carving, very light club track days road racing, and daily driving.

I would like to bump the power, but keep the car reasonably drivable.. So my thoughts are these. Cams, exhaust header, and ecu tuning.

I'm thinking the JWT S4 cams, and probably their ECU.. The header is more complicated, because it's not for a standard application. It needs to stay close to the motor to clear the frame rail and steering shaft, and turn to the back to get out. Once I find a header, I will have the rest made custom to get back, hop the axle, and get out.

I think the intake is reasonable as is, it's a custom tube from in front of the radiator with a MAF sensor.

Does this sound reasonable? I'm reading cam specs and such, but I'm not really seeing systems and what works together.

Thanks in advance..

The header you might have to modify or have one made to fit the car the way you want it. Other than that the S4s would be a good choice. The JWT ECU would be a safe choice, it will run good and be a safe tune and increase power. If you wanted to be more hands on you can get a tune-able ECU like the NEMU for around the same price.

In the car you have, guessing sub 2000lbs it would be a fun ride.

So the JWT can't be tuned? I was thinking that would be part of the fun, going to a dyno person and getting the car tuned in.

Thanks for the input!

You want a Nistune or JK Tuning or Calum Realtime ECU if you want the car tuned in person and on the fly. JWT is a chip based tune and they can do it for you if you take your car there, otherwise you give them the specs (maf/injector/motor compression and so on) and they make a tune for you. I love your build so far man, looks like a ton of fun!

Ahhh. That makes more sense.

I was thinking by what I had read that the JWT was tuned, but it sounds from what you are saying like it is a 1 time deal. I think I like the idea of a tunable piece that can be tuned when I change parts in the motor..

Thanks guys.

run a top mount turbo manifold with a t25, that lil roadster would scream!

I rode in this turbo car before building this.. It was built to about 320whp.. And simply scary fast..

Trust me I was tempted, but I don't think I would have a lisence in 6 months if I did..

Turbo..

then maybe think about swapping a sr20ve head on? that alone would cost a little more then cams but you'd gain more power and then still have cam upgrade options, although you may need to change pistons to use them.

with the proper setup you could easily see 180-190hp and when u crack that vvl the honda boys are gonna be like WTF?
