My budget DE build vs. Mike Kojimas

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Mike's is dotted, mine is solid. Both tuned by Jim Wolf Tech.

Mike's car seems to have some sort of weird 1/4 wave resonance that is making those big valleys.

I'm curious to know what your build entailed and how much it set you back.

What were the actual numbers pulled? as the plots don't cross at the correct place so is a calculated number

Yeah, charts don't work that way. They only cross at the "correct" place if horsepower and torque are plotted on the same Y axis. If you look at the sides of the chart you can see that the two Y axis scales do not match.

being on the phone I didn't notice the two were scaled differently, regardless its flywheel power and unless they use an engine dyno that's a calculated number

No worries, sorry if i was a bit harsh.

I know dynapack's software shows "flywheel" power, but the numbers are generally comparable to other chassis dynos. Either way, we can compare the output of the two cars tested on the same dyno.

The engine was built per Mike Kojimas budget build thread. I'll try to summarize mods.

Intake:
Aem intake, N60 MAF, stock TB, port matched JDM intake manifold

Engine Bottom End:
SR16 pistons(swain coated tops and skirts)eagle rods, stock crank, DE block, piston oil squirters, custom windage tray and crank scraper, acl bearings, GTIR mains, VE oil pump.

Head:
lightly hand ported and port matched, C3 cams, Ti springs and retainers, sodium filled exhaust valves, adjustable cam gears (set 0,0 for now)
WPC treatment applied to most moving parts( i.e. cams, all bearings, rockers, oil pump gear)

Exhaust:
Hotshot Gen VI with 3in collector, magnaflow muffler, turndown dump

Engine Ext:Ur crank pulley, Gspec WP pulley

Fuel: Nismo FPR (3 bar), JWT fuel rail, 50lbs injectors, walbro 255, 100 octane

ECU: Jim Wolf tuned ECU (brought the car to JWT and they custom tuned)

Cost: cost for just the engine build was approximately $4K

Just ask if I forgot to cover some component of interest.

Pictures for your viewing pleasure-these are in progress photos. I can already anticipate questions like "Hey, isn't that a DE MAF in the picture?" I give you guys high praise and credit with this disclaimer. Just moved last week to AL and haven't unpacked th camera yet to chronicle new CF mirrors, NRG quick release hub and some other improvements.
