So far I like the Tomei's! Pulls hard above 5000rpms

Does anyone have dyno charts with the Tomei 270 or 280 cams with the SR20DE? I put mine in yesterday and would like to know what I'm making.

Every car and every dyno is different. That being said, what does the dyno number mean to you? WIll you not like your car if somebody posts a dyno number from their car that's lower than your expectations?

Uhhh.. yes I know it depends on the car.. but with your tone, what do you work for JWT or something? Let me rephrase: "I would like to see a dyno chart of a N/A SR20DE before and after Tomei 270 cams were installed to have a better understanding of where and when the modification produces more or less power"

I do not work for JWT, although I know some folks down there.

My point was that you said you had installed them already and you wanted to see dyno charts from others....

I too am interested in back to back gains with nothing other than cam swap, but those seem hard to come by for most cams as people either aren't dyno'ing their cars, or they do many other mods in between dyno times.

Where does your car seem to want to lay over now compared to stock? Does it pull strong to 7500?? I know my car with stock cams lays over pretty good at 6000 on the dyno. Hard to feel it on the track though.

I was just joking about that you worked for JWT, because you seemed a bit sore (at least from your writing) that I chose Tomei cams instead.. but as far as JWT, I've already had two sets of S3's, one set of S4's, and a set of C2's just wanted to try something new..

but anyways, i feel a large difference with the Tomei 270's from 5500 to fuel cut which unfortunately is the standard JWT ECU of 7750 or 7800rpms (whatever it is) and it feels like it would pull hard for another 400-600rpms, but that's a no-no with these stock valve springs.

I run Tomei on all my SR20's, and they are perfect. You can just drop in the Tomei 270's but highly suggest to install Tomei valve springs for the HIGH revs....I will be installing Tomei 270 with Tomei Valve springs, I will post the results. Tomei is from Japan 100% and Tomei cams are the cheapest.

The Tomei are probably a better cam but is the price difference worth it to you. You could use the BC springs with the Tomei cams to save some cash. BC stage 3's are a great bang for the buck though. How far are you going with this build? Tomei has been making great cams for the sr20 for many many years while the BC's have less r&d into them. More people in the rwd crowd use Tomei than the fwd which is who you mostly find on here.

MSRP on Tomei Cams are $380 for a set....MSRP on BC use to be $450 price drop to $382, so price is not much difference. Valve springs I would recommend supertech they are awesome.

I thought tomei were in the $500 range and bc's were in the 200-250 range. I haven't priced anything out in a while since I don't have an sr anymore but if price is about the same, Tomei, hands down.

I got my used Tomei 270's for $250 a set, used. Not bad. And so far, they rock. I have the JWT s3/s4 cam program flash on my ECU and it seems possibly help also.

I think. From what I remember the JWT cam program just raises the base idle a little and maybe advances the timing a bit over a certain RPM? Anyone know? I'd like to call JWT and ask but they will probably say its a bad idea to run Tomei cams with their cam program (they are good salesmen)

soo its been awhile scince i bumped the thread. Looks like im gona stick with tomei as i already have the pon cams and am keen to go down the pro cam road.

autech engine has 11.5 or 11.7cr? oil squirters and a port polish from stock(so i have neen told) so it will recieve my go fast bits u/d pulley, jasma header, gizzmo thermal intake gaskit, tomei rocker arm stoppers, and the tomei 270/12cams with some form of springs which im yet to find will hopfully produce around 130-140wkw?? current 10.1cr engine makes 118wkw with the pon cams

So I've gone almost 2,000 miles on my DE with the Tomei 270's installed. I've also had JWT S2, S3, S4, and C2 cams installed in other SR20DE cars. All the cars were NA with just the usual bolt ons, intake, header, exhaust, pulley, ecu etc.

In my opinion they rank like this, considering price, low end loss, high end gain, and overall quality:

1) JWT S3

2) Tomei 270

3) JWT S4

4) JWT C2 w/ valve springs

5) JWT S2

I choose the JWT S3 as the all-around best one because of the better down-low power. Now obviously if you are trying to make the most peak HP then you'd probably want to run the C2's with the springs, but that will cost you a lot of dough. The Tomei 270's and the JWT S4's feel almost identical but I made the Tomei's my #2 choice simply because they are like $200 cheaper than the JWT's.
