Is this really useful? or only if your into turbo?

my friend has S3r cams installed into his rr de.
before safc 136whp
after safc 148whp

i run a safc, but never got it tuned, i use it for fuel economy. just trimmed it -15% across th board for 30% Low TP. went for 27 mpg to 33 mpg ave

hope that helps bro

btw,

it works for turbo too, manditory if not running a tuned ecu

I think SAFC starts making power when you change cams, where the ECU's self learning cant compensate the new cams.

It is useful. I used it with stock cams and made more power (while on stock ECUs) by adjusting (aka fooling the stock ECU) how much fuel I am allowing the car to use while in 'open loop' aka Wide Open Throttle! (WOT)

It also can change what MAF you are using while on the factory ECU (it emulates and simulates voltages so it will not be 100% normal). I used this feature to change between a stock DE MAF and the E60 (95-99 Maxima) MAF.

So, yes, when you use it properly, it is useful. Not the best, may not even be practical, but it works.

^agree.
Best to help translate alternate MAF installs, and for trimming fuel. Not the best choice for medium or heavy tuning, though, because fooling the airflow to the ECU can also inadvertently adjust your total timing, and that can be bad (depending on circumstances).

I used it on my old S4 DE (S4, IHE, 255pump, etc) and made 154whp... up 8 peak from pre-tune #s. It's also SUPER handy for reading/setting your TPS voltage.

Just DON'T get in the habit of constantly screwing around with it; set it, leave it alone.
