does not work this way. you have to use the correct spacer for the pump cover. the de spacer is smaller than a ve spacer. the ve pulley is shorter than de pulley.

So the spacer must sit flush with the gear of the oil pump? then the pulley buts up to that?

thats the idea not to crush the oil pump drive or rub the pump housing.. here is a link to a thread Ben put together that better explains things
