Thread: starter motor crunching?

So for a little while now, when the cars started goes to idle speed then kicks up to around 1600-1800 under the auto choke till the engine warms up. Split seconds between the idle speed and the choke speed, however more often than not there's a little crunch / graunching noise.

Someone mentioned it sounds like the starter motor disengages and then when the revs jump up it turns if over again or something... didn't fully understand, it was also mentioned it might have something to do with a bearing on the flywheel? If so clutch is being replaced shortly so can deal with it then.

anyone shed any ideas on what's causing the noise or confirm that its this bearing etc?
