For the headstuds, go with the Golden Eagle studs for the Honda B16 (I think). Do a search. You'll find the info. Or you can go with the newly available option from Elite Auto Engineering. They look the part.
Or you can pay out the ass for AEBS studs or whatever they are.

For the other hardware, you can do ARP but the main cap bolts I think interfere with the upper oil pan and so you have to get some notches cut out and possibly some reinforcing done on the oil pan to use those. I don't know what to use instead. Honestly, stock will probably be fine. Or GTi-R maybe is an upgrade?

Golden eagle no longer makes head studs for the B16A. You might be able to find some for sale on a Honda forum.

Be careful, there are some Ebay sellers who claim to be selling Golden Eagle head studs but they are cheap imitations.

white biscuit, do you have the possibility of getting a ve motor ?

you could spend 3 grand building a motor and make 200whp on a de or spend the same 3 grand on a ve and make 250whp.

it only makes sense.

you could make more power from a stock sr20ve then a built de.

agian it only makes sense to go ve.

stratton.

Whats up with wanting to build DE's. This is what you do to save yourself the headache, buy a used BTCC sr20 motor and you should be off to a great start.

They are cheap, parts are cheap etc... I'm not going to start another thread-o-derailment

It seems a ton of people are ditching the DE for VE setups, so DE cams etc are on the decline. Running motors hand be had for 50-400 dollars depending on mods and mileage.

I am picking up a DE block with no head for 60 dollars, nothing wrong with it. Even if a VE is 600 dollars plus shipping for me it is a win-win because of the people I know and the connections I have.

You can make 200 HP out of a DE for pretty cheap and make it safe to rev to 9k. The information is all out there people just need to look.

its all about head flow. I dont care what engine you use.

If you ran a cam that had a higher profile than a 280 with over 12mm of lift, you will be losing nearly all comfortable streetability and going off the edge. I say this only because this is where people like their cushy VE's with the dual lobes ( even the kelfords have a smoother idle nowadays).

If you were to build a DE, there are shops in england that can work that head. A highport or 54C pulsar head is the only way to go when building an all motor DE. Also the solid lifters are a must for " Safe" revving. Build a block to build a block. if you get bored with the DE head throw a VE head on it later and see what it will do.

Build the bottom end with at least 12:1 Compression and have valve reliefs cut for the larger cams/ VE head later on just in case.

You will make much more useable power if you were to save your pounds for a quality independent throttle body setup as well as the engine management to go with it. You can make a 250HP DE, I have seen it done.

But when it boils down to it, it all depends on what is available to you, andh ow much you are willing to spend. A VE with a fresh bottom end and head will be hard to beat.

But I like the sound of being cammed. It's the redneck in me.

Not picking sides but anybody remembers the dog cars and the de, ve, comparison. And I remember reading a post on a fast sr22de somewhere. A ve is not special its just a better starting point, and easier to drive daily due to the vvl. It will be cheaper yes but it isn't better. If the guy ask for advice on a de give him advice on the de dont just say go ve. They are two de I could mention Robchaos de and http://www.sr20-forum.com/all-motor/43919-191whp-roller-rocker-de-dyno-result.html . IN my humble view if u mean to stick with the de accept the cost and build it.

I was all for DE power, my DE made 167whp. If I didn't get into a VE, I may have tried to get to that 20Xwhp. With a slight bore, bigger injectors better plentum a decent tune it would have gone along way. Not to mention bump compression and maybe a little e85 I feel 210whp would have been possible...I think it was Jimi that was building one hell of a DE, check.it.out...
