SR20VE intake manifold should work best, but you need to re-weld flange to RR one.

So 10hp gain on a stock tune for a rr engine? So I need a lowport im and throttle body? Thats it?

If you are using a RR ECU, you will want to use a RR Throttle body (will need a TB adapter plate). You can use a lowport TB with a RR ECU but you will get a CEL for IACV and will have a hunting idle. You can fix this issue slightly by opening the throttle plate some, but it isn't ideal.

If you are using an older OBD2 or OBD1 ECU then you can use the lowport TB with the lowport manifold without issue.

A RR TB will NOT work with an older style OBD2 ECU, if you are planning on using the IACV function on the TB. The idle will shoot for the clouds.

I honestly wonder if VE manifold is all that great, the plenum seems a bit small

It might become more (or less) once ecu self learns. But overall the car feels like a different animal!

Thank you good sir, I've been thinking, you should get that shop to make more of those adapters and start selling them here and gnet.

I am tempted to see if I can take a 32bit iacv wires, and wire them to older IACV and still use 32bit stock ecu...

I was actually thinking the same thing. I think I will try and pop over to the machine shop before the holidays. Work is hectic right now though. The only thing I would change on the design is the complexity of all the cuts. It looks nice but it jacks the price up quite high as the shop has to mill so many different angles. Something more simple and "square" would bring the price down considerably, I would think.

I wondered about that as well. I think the only issue might be the difference in voltages that the ECU is looking for, for each wire. RR ECU is fussy (as you know). It would be an interesting experiment though.

Heck I think I can make something cheaper with a thick aluminum chunk. The added benefit is it moves TB further away thus you don't have to worry about touching the VC, but throttle bracket will need to be redone.

I'll see what I can draft up diagram wise!

Correction that's a VVL motor with RR TB and stock RR ecu.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I did this last year!! Surprisingly, the car turned over and idled quite well, even with an E60 MAF and lightly free-revving the engine!? Although, I didn't drive the car like that or even put it into gear so the E60 MAF might have been a problem had I driven under load.

I wonder how inexpensive the machinist can make them for, with a simple block-style design. He has the program saved on the CNC, so it might be easy for him to adjust.

Here is what I did (I didn't make it though) for my throttle bracket. Pretty simple piece, atleast for a VE manifold anyways.

Thanks, Vadim! Yes, not to confuse people into thinking I was running a VE plenum on my RR with a RR TB and ECU. That's too much work for stock redline!!

A VE intake is worth some power on a lowport head, but it requires some work and supporting mods
