No, I did various 10:1 CR SR20DE´s with boltons (S4, SSAC, exhaust, intake, flywheel, pulleys,..). This is what i would do if I rebuild engine with bottom end too.

stock 9.5:1(USDM Lowport DE) with Pop charger, WAI, S4 Cams, UR Crank and WP, Stock Flywheel/Clutch, HotShot Gen4 Header, Gutted Cat, Greddy Exhaust

i think that was it, i feel with sr16 pistions(would have been my next step, if the car wasnt stolen) and very little porting(DIY) the car would have been good for 175whp maaaaaaaybe 180. oh and i was going to go from that hotshot to the SSAC, its a decent header for a VE so i cant see it not being benefical(SP?) for a DE

So people im updating the setup im going to build and put some info here so if someone looks for this info they dont have to research again.

The setup is:
-SR20DE Lowport
-SSAC Header w/ 2.5" Exhaust
-3" Warm Air Intake
-S4HL cams w/ Adjustable cam gears
-SR16VE pistons
-Nistune ECU
-Cometic Headgasket 1.8mm

As far as i researched, this setup will put 165whp and 140lb-ft of torque at least.

Now from what i get from JWT, 11:1 CR is the recomendation for the S4HL Cams so i wont detonate, and peak power would be at 7300rpms.

Im going with this Headgasket(Cometic 1.8mm) to get 11.2:1 CR. With the stock one(1.2mm) i would get 11.8:1(To HIGH!!). So, 11.2:1 would be something nice if in some moment i would like to use a better gasoline and get some extra whp... the detonation can be sorted with the Nistune ECU.

Also JWT told me that i dont need the Springs and Retainers for this cams...

And im adding the Adjustable cam gears because after reading the DOG 1 post, i need to get more overlap from this cams and get higher numbers. As i read somewhere "The DE with tightened lobe centers is one pissed off engine"...

Soon i will finish buying all the parts and get this monster going...

Regards,

Torque.

Check out Dai's B14 with SR20DE built compared to Kojimas B14 with SR20VE.
Sure you can get more HP out of a VE with the same money but sounds like he wants to be different.

This is a great point, some people just like beating up on VE cars too.

Looking forward to your power and torque numbers. I was thinking of doing something like this myself. I have a lowport thats just been sitting in my garage since 2002 waiting for a rebuild. The only issue that keeps me from doing it is the fact that Sr20ves are so affordable these days. I think dollar for dollar I could make the same power with a VE with less modifications and a lower compression ratio.

High comp DEs are still cool in my eyes though.

I believe you will even see better numbers here and this is not really a wild guess. Your goal is pretty much what I did with a 10:1 engine and almost the same setup.
Currently, I am a bit slower than P10 with the same setup and 12:1 CR but on basic maps.

^ agreed, IMO i feel you will be around mid/upper 170s, and even more with a real good tune...

A this moment im asking JWT to see if i can use this cams with a 54C Head from a GTiR as a guy is selling one and i would like to get it for this built.

That head with the ITBs... hooo god!!!

I think it would help a lot!!

Werent you also just little slower than P10 with T28 GTiR 10:1 CR DE+T?
