Because you can get an older Altima with the 3.5 V6 for the price of the swap, but get the entire car. Pull out the engine if you know what your doing and do your swap into your B13, then sell the shell on eBay or part it out.

Many of us put VE's in the B13's and run NA because DET's can be a pain in the ass. More parts = more things to break. And also, some eventually turbo the VE engine anyway or want to have the option. I think the highest B13 trapspeed to date was Ashton's VE-T. And a '91 SE-R may have been on the road since October of 1990, that's 23 years, and some of those original DE's died and peeps used the opportunity to upgrade to a VE. I'm all for SR20DET swaps in 240's. RWD DET's are awesome. FWD a little tougher.

Do as you will it's your money. I have nothing but good things to say about the VQ.

had an altima. great car. for what it is. was an 08 3.5 se. not a 6000 dollar car for the average guy, but we get them at the auction all day long for that. THAT being said, suggesting that a person go buy a altima instead of putting it in a car 1000 pounds less is the DUMBEST thing ive heard today. well hell, if your going to go buy an altima for 6000 bucks, go buy a whole fucking evo 8 for 8000. your missing the point here. If you want an altima, get a damn altima. dont come into a mod forum banging the stock cars are awesome drum. us b13 guys want a damn vq35 swap, because its awesome. If you do not understand awesome, thats ok. buy an altima. altimas are not cool. altimas are not awesome. a v6 b13.....is fucking awesome. ok and really, throwing off the ballance? sway bars and coilovers. problem solved. damn drivetrain isnt even that much heavier....pshhh. kids today. "buy an altima". pshhh.

I have had several DET set ups and 2 VE set ups. Either set up done right should be somewhat painless. But I will agree a turbo car can be a little more..."upkeep". I was at the convention to see Ashton run his time, that car did move. But again I think you are missing my point I was trying to make, crznx2000 explained it a little better

Kids today, lol. How old are you? I've been driving and modifying SR20's since 1998. So I hope you've been doing it longer than that to pull the "you're young and stupid" crap.

My opinion is the Altima w/ the 3.5 is a good car. Don't know why that's such a terrible thing. Go put a VQ in your B13 and let us know how it goes.

I am not saying the 3.5 Alitma is a bad car in any means, I was just saying your statement "But what I'm getting at is- to spend $6-8k to have a VQ35DE motor swapped into your B13/B14 and all that customization. why not just buy the car itself? And sell the other. You can find some Altimas with the VQ for less than 6k.. and if you're serious, gut it totally out and boost it." Is not a valid argument.

We're back to another type of "why mod a Sentra" question?

if an altima is a "good" car in you eyes....and mind you im speaking from a performance standpoint only....which is kinda the mentality on this forum i guess.....you REALLY need to raise your standards. seriously. i love nissans. for what they are. but......not performance. and ive owned more cars than most dealers have had on their lot. a b13 with a simple ve would be an awesome beater. and if you knew which car i was buying off this forum youd understand why i have no time to care about na cars.

If the Altima SE-R is not a "good" car, the vehicle that has the very motor you claim you are putting in your B13, then a lowly Sentra must be awful.

But it's not, we know this.

Apparently your definition of "good" is different than mine. Yes this forum is mainly performance oriented, but there are LOTS of people who have stock B13's and just like them. For me "good" = reliability, looks decent, rides nice, lots of nice little options, fair MPG, adequate passing power on the highways etc. That's a good all around car. I'm not speaking from a performance standpoint. I even wrote like 6 posts up it's my daily driver. I did not buy it to go to the track or modify it.
