More people dont have the swap because its still quite costly to do when you figure in cost of the motor, trans, clutch and flywheel, ecu, wiring harness, pedal assembly, tuning software, motor mount kit and all the other little misc things that add up. Not because the wiring is difficult. lol. Thats the easiest and cheapest part at least for those that know what they are doing and to those that electrical and electronics is easy to them.

the 240s use the 350z ecu. doug at z fever can remove nats from the 350z ecu . but cannot remove nats from the 02-03 maxima ecus that is used for the swap. if it was that easy plenty of b15s would have vq swaps and not pay $1300 for a wiring conversion.

Z fever? Heard too many bad things about them. Talk to the people @ uprev who make the tuning software that covers the maxima.

you can get a whole 02-03 maxima 6sp engine swap for $1700 with stock wiring and ecu. mounting the engine in the car b15/b13/b14/g20 is easy. like i stated earlier use the 04 maxima right side motor mount and the spec-v tranny mounts/brackets as starting points.

u could eliminate the pedal assembly by removing the DBW and put a q45 throttle body.

as for the wiring the easiest car to do would be the b15 that has the immu bsm and chip key that can be programed to the ecu.

if not try the convert the harness to use the 350z ecu and spend $500 or more for up rev to have nats removed and have tunning options as well, which comes out to be the half or almost what the motor and tranny is worth.

go to staytuned performance stpnyc i think it is lol there is alot of helpful information from Nigel and the community, Nigel wasthe first to have a codeless vq b15s and having cruise control to work. u would see a 1st gen altima with a vq35 and a step by step
g20 with a vq35.

im wondering why you guys are ignoring the obd2 maxima ecus. 3rd gen maxima owners have been dropping these in their cars, for pretty much plug and play. you lose a little power vs the stock ecu, but i think its only 5-10 hp. biggest thing is the timing maps are less aggressive i think. That would get you up and running, then just go from there.

yeah there are always that but they are not tuner friendly ecu's. Most people that spend the money on this kind of swap are going to want to have a tuning option as that will yield the most power, driveability, and reliability.

The only 3rg gen maxima with a 3.5 swap as far as I know is Aron but hes running a 5.5 gen (02) maxima ecu and harness. You could technically use a 4th gen ecu (95-99) ecu like I had in my 4th gen swapped 3.5 maxima, but you lose vvt (10whp) and will have cel issues to resolve. Running an 02 ecu or haltech ecu is the way to go. Much less headaches and it will optimize the setup.

are you kidding me? theres dozens of them. look around. i think you have to modify the vq to run the maxima crank angle sensor, and a few things with the timing cover. cant remember. but, there are quiet a few of those guys, in the 300 + hp range na. lol.

The money you have to spend getting 300whp n/a isnt worth it. Trust me. It isnt as easy as it seems. You need cams, valve springs, revup oil pump to rev higher, full 3" exhaust, Headers, Intake, VIAS BOP, Plenum spacers, and a GOOD tune, and that will get you close to or barely at/above 300whp. Biggest gains seen so far, besides headwork, is the SFR manifold or custom intake manifold, since the engine falls off badly after 6k with stock cams. It isnt cheap.

For that money and time you just spent n/a, you could of either almost had a full turbo setup that is well put together, or had a nasty Nitrous setup and saved yourself some money and alot of time and had a reliable 350-400whp with just a 3" exhaust.

well, hmm.....we talking crank or wheels. cause im pretty sure my bone stock convertered car makes 270 at the crank.

ON another note, a friend of mine, Had a 08 v6 eclispe a few years ago. hes moved on to evos now, but folks on his forums made the exact same comments. with a fic, and a PROPER, equal length manifolds and full exaust, made 301 (on a mustang dyno) and whored most of the turbo cars at the time. He is the one and only person to actually have anyclue as to what they were doing with tuning, AND spend the 1200 for a proper exaust. that being said, if you have any clue what your doing NA with tuning, a proper exaust and tune WILL put you very easily at the 300 mark. This is a fact, not opinion. "worth" is a personal choice. I personally thing driveabilty, useable torque, "fun" factor, and in general, ease of maintenance, is WORTH a na v6 over turbo anyday. And ill also point out, my nx is turbo, with a 18g and supporting mods. Id rather have a na car.
