Thread: didtching ve and goin de. need HG advise

hey everyone

right ill start, im getting a second SR20 engine from primera egt that im building. within the next week or so ill be getting a set of brian crower cams and some adj pulleys. matching with this will be going a set of 16ve pistons. from my understanding is with the standard head gasket thickenss ill have a clearence issue. is this correct?

further plans for a header as i only have a ssac rep header which i know will choke the car so ill be going for the powerland header as theyre the easiest access here in ireland and then that will be flowing into a 2.5 inch catback.

for inlet i have a 16ve inlet manifold.

any input on this setup would be great but my main concern is the valve piston clearence.

The ve will always make more power dollar per dollar when compared to a de.

money wise. that the moment i cant afford a ve build and it was only gonna be a 16 head on a de bottom end.

So what ur saying is you dont have a ve ? U have a de ud like to build ?

lol sorry i do have a ve head but a standard de bottom end! im selling the head in favour of some cams. the de is something i can work on gradually while the ve i have to do all at once really.

besides de now and when im bored in the future and am not a student anymore then ill build ve! trust me its been goin around in my head for a long time now ive made my mind up!

Slap the ve head on, run 16ve pistons. U already have the parts. Ull make way more them any de.

yeah but you cant run ve pistons on a de bottom end and ve head am i right? besides like i said i already made up my mind on this one. ill save ve for the future when i get bored and have more money to play with

you could ruv ve pistons on a de bottom but stratton tried tellin you already you got the parts to make poewr goin straight de with cams still isnt gonna make more that you would with ve parts...
