you can, but its not required. i never did understand how people gapped their plugs by putting it in the circle ones and twisted it from one end to the next to gap it. that usually results in a broken tip. you can check it with one however, but not gap it that way.

coppers have less resistance than platinum and iriduims. doesnt help that they are also insanely cheap
