I loved my SE, miss it. I've had several Sentras and that was by far my favorite. Only thing I didn't like was the persistent timing chain rattle, even after upgrading the tensioner. 5 speed wasn't as tight as my Acccord's but overall the engine felt gutsy-er.

The SR20 will not die. I have to agree with everyone and the only way that we can make these motors legendary we have to keep them on the road.

We will not let them die!

SR20's 4 ever...

Owned mine for ten years (dd) and just finished the body/paint. Now it is time for the engine to be slowly rebuilt. (really slowly)

It is the heart and soul of many cars built with it and one of the best engines built by nissan.

Since i first encountered it back in 1995 was intrigued ill never forget the day .
I owned a 91 taurus SHO , headers , 3 inch flowmaster exhaust , chipped ecu 5 speed and i was challenged by a Burgandy se-r B13 , needless to say i saw what that little car could do .
1st gear he got the jump im spining tires as my SHO ,FWD V6 3.0 Platform built by Yamaha for ford had plenty of tq , 2nd gear i gripped and pulled by his side and 3rd i started pulling away but man i was impressed .

4 years later I bought a 200sx and here we are today .
I have owned and sold ,parted 1 Nx , 3 B13 ,2 G20 , 1 B14

First car I ever raced in my b14 was a green SHO on Sample Rd near Coral Springs HS, took my quite by surprise

I remember being 16 in 2002, with my sexy new 200sx SE-R. Miko installed my first and only Walbro 255. I remember during the installations, him suggesting that I not worry about a stainless 3" exhaust over aluminized, since "In a few more years, the GTR will be out and you'll be making the big bucks, and want something like that anyway". While he was oh so right about the exhaust, and oh so wrong about what I would be wanting. Here I am, about to turn 25 on friday (the 25th I might add, my golden bday, lol), and what is it I want? I want a 2.4L VE, and I drive a 1994 toyota Corolla in order to save enough to afford things for my b14 and my NX.

We have come a long way (well, maybe not me, but I'll get there) as a community. Despite the near complete lack of aftermarket support, the envelope has been pushed further than we could have imagined 5 years ago. The '91 NX and Classic SE-R became true classics this year. We are turning into those "crazy old guys" that we used to question/despise/look up to, with their old muscle cars or whatever....

If I have learned one thing over these last 9 years, it's that the SR20 is stronger than ever, and shall live on for decades.

AS LONG AS THERE IS GASOLINE, THERE WILL BE SR20 MOTORS RUNNING ON IT.

One example I can think of is Nissan's MR20DE which makes like the same power and maybe a little more torque than the SR20DE. The variable valve timing engines are better of course but without vvt, not many engines surpass the SR20DE by much from the factory.

And since someone made the Porsche comment, I'll throw in a few words. A college buddy of mine is in love with Porsche, and has had two 944s and his brother has the S2. Great handling, even amazing, but I'm not at all impressed with the engine, especially the 2.5L. It is basically half of a 302 with a Porsche stamp on it. It only makes 150hp and he was surpirsed and even doubtful when I told him that I'd like 165whp out of my DE. He said that no one has made that power on the 2.5L, because the design limits it. Also if it's one think that Nissan has over Porsche, it's reliability. The most unreliable cars I have ever seen are the 944s hands down. When they were up and running they are great on the track, but you really need some deep pockets when playing around with them. And because of that sole reason, I'll take the SR20 over them, even over the 3.0L.

Very well said.

lol, I wish I could afford to right now, i'm tempted to sell off all my turbo shit, these things are making way more than my t28 does, but I have a new 2871R sitting here...

A lot of people are born in march, I think everyone gets knocked up in the summer
