but SR16 pistons would make that easier if i wont need 92/93 octane

That is a bummer I can't say whether 91 or 93 is actually needed as far as compression is involved. Someone to ask would be Jamie (SR20GTI-R).

This isn't really rocket science and I am pretty sure it has been done in the past with less. Here is just about everything going into this car as far as motor work and supporting mods go.

Head:
Miko mod of the rocker arms to safely rev to 9k
SR20 roller rocker lifters
JWT C2 cams
Spring and retainers (not sure of brand yet)
Thinking of either buying a worked head or porting and polishing a DE head
Stock valves

Bottom end:
VE crank knife edged
ACL bearings
VE or Manley rods
SR16VE or CP pistons coated by swaintech so they fit the stock bores
VE oil pump
DE block

Misc:
No PS or AC
Supercowboy header
High flow cat
2.5 inch cat back
Vibrant muffler and resonator
3 inch CAI w/ BPI velocity stack at the end
JDM intake manifold (possibly extrude honed) with spacers
Marsh tuned
Pullies
Lightweight flywheel
Calum basic

There are a few reasons this car will break 200 wheel one is because I am not using the SSAC header. Supercowboy is a very smart guy as well as local to me and will build me something nice. The second reason you will see this car break 200 wheel is because of the tuner. I am not knocking JWT or bins found on the forum. To extract the most amount of power you have to be on the dyno.

Just because you don't see it everyday doesn't mean it's not possible good enough is never enough for me.

88 x 86 would add 30hp (all things being equal) right?

I cannot say for sure since I never done it or have seen it first hand. I would imagine so (along with a little bump in compression ratio because of the 88mm bore).

I am glad the header is being customized to the setup, I think it will still be difficult. (I literally just discovered your goals a few days ago even though I have paged through your thread before, I humbly apologize.)

But I am extremely curious and hopeful that you achieve your goals and I can look stupid in the future. I will be around for whatever result and smile at whichever occurs.

Miko said once, I believe, that 1mm of bore equals about 15hp... that may only apply to VE, cant remember

AMEN brutha! I remember seeing your SE-R at Habberstad Nissan for the first time and I was hooked from the beginning.

These things will be around for a while. I see 2L 4 cylinders today struggle to make the power and torque that the DE makes, and it's an 80s design. One example I can think of is Nissan's MR20DE which makes like the same power and maybe a little more torque than the SR20DE. The variable valve timing engines are better of course but without vvt, not many engines surpass the SR20DE by much from the factory.

And since someone made the Porsche comment, I'll throw in a few words. A college buddy of mine is in love with Porsche, and has had two 944s and his brother has the S2. Great handling, even amazing, but I'm not at all impressed with the engine, especially the 2.5L. It is basically half of a 302 with a Porsche stamp on it. It only makes 150hp and he was surpirsed and even doubtful when I told him that I'd like 165whp out of my DE. He said that no one has made that power on the 2.5L, because the design limits it. Also if it's one think that Nissan has over Porsche, it's reliability. The most unreliable cars I have ever seen are the 944s hands down. When they were up and running they are great on the track, but you really need some deep pockets when playing around with them. And because of that sole reason, I'll take the SR20 over them, even over the 3.0L.
