i dont think it will ever die out.

in one sensei wish the sr20 scene would get as big as the honda scene to gain notable mfg parts but then again i like the scene a little more tightknit

Nissan needs to start making some sr20ve 20v motors in some cars out here in the states already.

Highport, JDM intake with spacers installed. 16VE or CP pistons on either VE rods or Manley rods. C2 cams and a custom header with a 2.5inch exhaust. Maybe some headwork if my machine shop gives me a deal.

Showing your age here, a little, aren't we? Or do you live in Malaysia?....

Hopes and dreams, brother. Hopes and dreams, unfortunately. As nice as it would be, it's not likely that it'd happen. Wouldn't it be nice, though?

Sure, VTAK motors may be punchier, but, the SR is just too nice to just "disappear." There's so much area under the stock dyno curve, it's almost impossible to catch it "off-power" unless you're running a GT9-bazillion or massive cams with a stratospheric redline, right? And, as much a pain in the ass it may be to first get used to the architecture, bracketry, timing chain shenanigans, sensor location, and all the other quirks of it, once you're used to playing with the SR, I find it hard to genuinely want to work on anything else.

It'll never die. The engine that had its' own mailing list, then its' own forum... the quiet cult that appreciated this engine so much has grown, thanks to its' own efforts and the (gasp) drift scene, that it's impossible to think otherwise. I mean, for an engine that was produced so much, for so long (approaching 20 years?), there's always going to be some close-knit, half-tilted, maniacally-faithful following (a la "the dash") that'll just refuse to see otherwise.

I'll have mine 'til I die. Then, it's going to my kids. Along with all the parts I'm hoarding.

glad to hear there's so much support for it. i think one of the reasons it'll stick around is because of the swap options. (swaptions?)

you can put it in anything. there's a guy on youtube who has a turbo sr in a lotus super 7 replica. it's sick.

Probably showing my age a bit. Gotta love working on Datsuns, though, it keeps me young.

one problem for me, i can't get 93 octane regularly in Oklahoma... 91 everywhere is tops that i know of. wouldn't i need better than 91 to go with a high compression? i was thinking 10.0:1 with 88 mm

but SR16 pistons would make that easier if i wont need 92/93 octane

I think it will be very tough to hit 200whp on the highport head and stock bore size. I'm curious to see how this turns out. C2 cams are nice though. Do you have a header for the other car?

You can't get 93 because of the elevation. The average elevation for OK is around 1350ft ASL. It's not very common to have 93 available at elevations above 1000~1100ft ASL.

I concur. This will be tough to hit his high goals on a 86x86 engine.
