Will the SR20 ever die?
Will there ever be a lack of support and enthusiasm for these engines? Do you think it will turn into something like the L28 and 22R and wind up being a classic import engine, or will it eventually (say in 10 or 15 years) die off?

I think it will last pretty long just like old V8s SR20's were made for a long time just like Honda B Series etc. Im sure not anytime soon.

the SR20 is the simplest most powerful naturally aspirated motor ever to be mass produced. With little to no mods they kick ass period. I have owned a lot of SR powered cars and few H series hondas and the Nissans are a lot better IMO.

Lets put it this way, the last B series VTEC head was made in 2001, a company has already come out and made a custom brand new casting that has higher flow and better cooling since the number of VTEC heads available has actaully decreased. FYI for all those who want an B1c5 Cylinder head, they are only $1,800 brand new OEM assembled with real ITR camshafts.

As long as they keep making F&F movies, we shall survive!

Unfortunately, we are already losing support. With the economy how it is now, a lot of the small aftermarket companies are going bankrupt. There's just not enough demand for parts to make a profitable business. Unless Nissan decides to bring back a non-lame version of the SR20 for a new car, we will forever be trapped in the 90's, remembering the good days when gas was only $2 lol.

It will survive. There are a lot of people that just drive them. I have 2 of them and I plan on driving the N/A one forever. I haven't messed with my turbo car for a while, I don't have the extra money to insure it, so it sits.

I had a motor for sale for $100 picked up and couldn't get it. I was able to part it out, but I was surprised. With all the ve and det swaps there are a lot of de's.

The sr20 will always be remembered. Thats why im really puzzled at why the Honda scene went soo crazy back in 1999-2000. Its funny as I recall Our sr20 took craps on the honda motors back in the day like they said with simple bolt ons. I remember the b series swaps were all the rage and I remember taking my 91 se-r with boltons and jwt s3's and absolutely murdering the all motor hondas back then. Hell boosted single cams with fmu's couldnt even keep up with me. Im talking street and track. Being at the track every weekend you get to see a lot of different cars. I always remember people coming up to my car after running 14.3 14.4 @97mph all night long on street tires and asking me if it was boosted or nitrous. They couldnt believe a turbo single cam civic just got smoked. Or a mustang GT just got smoked. lol I just laughed.

The SR20 will never die. I can gurantee i will always own one as long as I live. I loved clowning on b16 eg's and ek's hell even gsr swapped hatches. That and I was a pretty damn good driver. lol 500 drag passes at the track will do that to ya.

In closing SR20 FTW
