Thread: A.I.V???? help plz

i have a 91 Se-R and i am planing to do a couple of things to it, but i want to know what the A.I.V does exactly, and does it change my emissions if i take it off...along with the resonator and oil separator. i ask because i have seen b13 on this forum that have these items off (looking good guys keep it up:bigthumbup so is there anyone that can help me with this?

The AIV puts fresh air into the exhaust to help the car pass emissions.

It's fine to remove the resonator, most keep the oil seperator though.

The AIV draws in fresh air during idle and deceleration to help the cat burn off gases. The oil seperator you need ,although you can pick up a VVL valve cover which is taller and has the oil seperator built in. You can get one from Gspec.com or everythingg20.com for around a $120 or so. I no longer have a cat so I removed the AIV with no problems. However keep the AIV and Egr parts in a box for when you smog.
