HotShot Cold Air Intake - questions
so I've never even thought of getting a CAI because I was always going to go turbo and go with a WAI like JWT makes, or Stillen... (I actually had a Stillen one in my B14 back in 1998)

anyway, I bought a HotShot CAI off the forum from a respected seller (on the old forum anyway) and had some questions about the filter ...

the whole thing seems very generic, not like a hotshot piece.. but I'm clueless..

here are my questions.
1) is the generic filter just like the original actual HotShot filter?
2) Regardless, would I be better off with the K&N Filter?
3) Would the K&N filter even fit? it's twice the length.
4) Is this REALLY a HotShot CAI?

I ask because it seriously looks like it was made in China... but like I said, I have no reason to distrust the seller, I just don't have a clue, perhaps if it's a knock-off maybe he didn't know either?

My used HotShot CAI came with very similar filter with BOMZ written on filter. If i was you, i would buy velocity stack + JWT/or similar filter.

BPi velocity stack for 30 or 40 bucks. (That JWT equivalent) A filter can be had for 20 bucks.

Where's the couplers? They should say hotshot on them.

1. my maf adapter looked nothing like that. betcha thats not an original HS piece. there's no need for that tube sticking out the side of it either , there's plenty of vacuum ports on the big short piece.
2. my filter was similar to that but i didn't use it. i had a jwt pop charger so i adapted it to the cai tube
3. my couplers are red and do not have HS anywhere on them.
4. a couple yrs ago i sold the jwt pop/kn filter and UPGRADED to an AEM dryflow filter with built in v-stack base.

I've had 3 or 4 hs intakes. Looks a little funny to me. esp the maf adapter. never seen one like that. filter looks genuine. The one pipe looks like its had the bungs re-welded. On mine the red couplers always say hotshot as well.

All 100% genuine, exactly as I received mine from Hotshot.
